Wow, that was terrible!
I actually liked this season overall, but the finale...Jesus.
I thought it was for sure that Anderson was leaving the show? That's how they end her story?
What happened to the virus? Where are all the aliens?
The whole fucking thing about William.... only to have Scully basically forget about it ("I was never a mother to him") while Mulder actually cares now? ("Who am I if not a father?") WHAT???
And of course no one (except for Reyes) is really dead. Skinner, CSM, William. What was the point?
The whole thing was infuriating and deeply, deeply disappointing.

It's surprising, though. They did acknowledge that the target would feel the same kick as the shooter, who is reflexively braced for it. And the experimental targets that they used were hanging inertly and not moving while balanced on two legs, so I think there's still some room for the going-through-the-window-dramatically scenario.
