Netflix greenlights new "Lost in Space"

That new robot is Godawful looking. It makes that terrible robot from the 1998 film look like a masterpiece.

 

If we're lucky it will meet an accident and its brain will get inserted into a more familiar-looking creation of Will Robinson.

 

Yeah...no. Sorry.

 

That idea made a bit more sense in the movie given Will was working with familiar technology which, in theory would at least be moderately compatible. But as smart as he was depicted in the film, I just can't see him being able to interface an alien processing module with human constructed hardware.

Still, purely from a visual aspect, I can imagine that "Eye of Sauron" looking orb turned on its side and mounted atop some sort of barrel shaped torso assembly, thus capturing a bit of the iconic Kinoshita silhouette.

 

When did "iconic" come to mean "something really, really familiar?"

I liked the look of what I saw in the trailer. As long as it entertains, I shall be happy - at least until the sentient carrots appear then all bets are off.

 

Sensible narration.

LIS trailer narration: pointless, random, not missed if taken out.

 

So? A trailer isn't the show. It's a commercial for the show. It's made by a marketing firm, not by the show's own producers. We don't know yet if the trailer narration is actually in the show at all.

 

I'm betting the robot's response to "What are you?" is "I am benign."

 

Adding you to the rest of the whole damned Internet?

The visual design on this is really cool and pretty plausible looking.



Of course everything is brand new. They're only just launched.

 

Oh man are we getting some movie style timey-wimey too? I wasn't expecting that.

 

I can't remember, did they say in any of the casting announcements if Judy was adopted or from an earlier relationship?
I like the emphasis they seem be putting on family.

Dammit, I actually kind of wish Netflix wouldn't drop this all at once because I'm going to have the self-control of Cookie Monster when it hits.
