Star Trek: Lost Scenes....

Hey, it already went down 1.6 Quatloos! -- that's a good start. And if it doesn't go down any more, I'll be picking it up just the same. Really, how many more chances will we get for deleted material?

In lieu of an actual extended episode being created this is as good as it will get.
Real shame they couldn't use that footage from "City.." for an extended episode.

At one point the price fell to $35.96 at Amazon. It has since bounced back up. But my pre-order has the lower price locked in !
Can't lose with that Amazon low price guarantee. I always advise people to pre-order from Amazon -- there's always a lot of time to cancel if it doesn't fall low enough for your budget.

Oh my.
I can't wait for this despite the fact I know of most of the cut material from script descriptions. I am wondering if this material duplicates the "Vault" material much. For example, the scenes from "City" have now been seen as deleted scenes -- so will we see those same scenes again in still form?

Curt,

I am willing to bury the hatchet and move on, in memory of Robert Justman. He would have wanted the focus to remain on the images and not shift to us. I have deleted my previous post.

With that in mind:

Could you please post the images from the contact sheet photos of 'The Enemy Within' and 'Metamorphosis' ?

I would especially like folks to see those. The 'hairy trees' and the tests with the guy whose wristwatch can be plainly seen with the redshirt uniform are favorites of mine and I know others will enjoy them as well.

Best,
David

Hi Green,

There are about 60 deleted and alternate scenes -- as well as some interesting scene trims -- scattered throughout the book (with the bulk of them being in the Deleted Scenes section, of course). Of those, approximately eight overlap with material shown on the Roddenberry Vault discs. Interestingly, since our frames of those eight came from different footage than what was digitized for the Vault discs (obviously), we were able to show expanded versions of a few of them. For example, the deleted scene of Khan and Marla McGivers in the transporter room that's shown in the Vault set is longer than what was shown there and we show some photos of how it began.

Thanks, sounds good. Hairy trees?

That's great news. So over 50 deleted/alternate/trims besides what is seen in "The Vault" --?
That is very exciting. Been fascinated by deleted material since the 1983 showing of TMP on TV. Never thought we'd be lucky enough to get TOS deleted material -- especially so late in the game. It also indicates that more than half the episodes will have at least one scene -- unless a smaller amount have many cuts scenes. But from reading the scripts it does seem most episodes did have scenes cut.

Were their any legendary cut scenes that you could not locate in any form?

Thanks for the effort!

Now my last hope is a similar book on all the movie cuts. I'd prefer to seethe footage but, it seems Paramount has decided to keep all the footage from Trek 2-4, 6 and 8 in their vault. And even the deleted scenes footage included from the other 5 TOS/TNG movies is not anywhere near complete.

One last question if you don't mind........

Did you find any "lost performances" among the cuts? That is -- actors whose scenes were entirely cut.

I ask because there are about 10 or so actors listed in the end credits who never say a line on camera.

Examples: "Katy"-- from Space Seed (played by Kathy Ahart)
"Lang" from Arena
"crewwoman" -- from Changling (played by Barbara Gates)
"Klingon #2" -- from Errand (played by George Sewaya)
"boy" -- from Miri (played by child actor Kieth Taylor)

Yes, and we tried to show a variety of them from across the three seasons. There are examples from at least 40 episodes, some long and some short.

No, but space prohibited us from including all of our cut scenes because we also wanted to showcase some of the other things that film clips show. Off the top of my head, I think we have about 1/2 of our cut scenes in the book.
Thanks for the effort!

You're welcome! It's been a lot of fun!

.

Now more excited than ever! 5 and a half months is a long wait though. You say you only featured half the deleted scenes you had? I hope you're not adverse to a volume 2 if the first is a big success. LOL.

If you hadn't planned on a volume 2 then you would have used all the best ones for the announced volume. Either way I'm pleased. To get a glimpse at 60 deleted TOS scenes with both restored photos and script excerpts is intriguing stuff.
