They did London 1969, which is close enough.

Saints Row The Third the Santaman edition, I would have the style, the humour but Steelport would be bigger, more diverse and the story and characters fleshed out more, more missions, more of everything.. aaaaaaand the same thing for Saints Row IV.

YES!!!!!!!!!!! Saint Row 4 is accused of ripping off prototype but damn I love that game.

Speaking of which Prototype and Prototype 2 were a lot of fun

Sadly, nothing is being done for low end machines, you have to do PC gaming on a high end one.

I know, the market forcing you to upgrade

At the moment what I have FX 6300 and R9 380 4 gig is considered a bit low end.

They did, yeah, but that was back in the 2D era, which was before they went to more of a story-oriented route. Would love to see them tackle a story in new places. Ever since the 3D era, it's been a lot of repetition.

And this is why I prefer console gaming to PC gaming.

Same here. As much as I'd love a decent gaming rig the continued outlay it requires is a bit much if you want the top graphics, which if you're getting a gaming PC is kinda the point. I'm more than happy with my PS4's graphical capabilities for now, for a third of the price.

I find myself agreeing with you guys..

But I do other things with the PC such as email, writing, online shopping, and a tiny bit of social media. But mainly the writing part, I can't do that on a console. But I do agree with your thoughts about not having to upgrade as much with a console.

But what happens when you get the next model of the console if you stick with that same brand? Will your previous software still work with the next model up? That's a worry of mine if I ever went console.

I'm a PlayStation guy through and through I've had all of them. Currently I'm rocking a mid range £500 windows laptop and a Samsung android tablet, that more than covers my computing needs, so I'll be definitely getting a PS5 when it lands.

Well, I'd keep the older one to play my older games on (I'm more a PC Gamer, but I have older consoles and an older PC I sometimes use) and get the new one at some point and use both.

My mate is primarily a console user and is actively looking for old consoles he doesn't have because now he has the funds. (I know he's mentioned a Jaguar and Saturn at one point, but also other stuff. - He'd have to find games for them too though)

Zero. How I would love to play dead space and gran turismo 6 on my PS4. It's a shame sony don't do backwards compatibility but I can live with it. I can still play them on my PS3, which I think is still a decent bit of kit. I've got an original fatboy 80GB, over 10 years old and hasn't missed a beat.

OK see that's one point that makes me hesitate about buying a console

I can see both sides of the argument, but I'm a casual gamer these days what with family commitments so a console fits the bill for me, they seem to have a pretty long shelf life between iterations so I don't feel like I'm being mugged off.

If I were a hard-core gamer with plenty of time on my hands I'd definitely consider a gaming PC though

Another point that would make for my ultimate game...

Stop using "Fortunate Son" every time your game has a hero making moment. This really gives me the shits. That song is so over used. Oh and it's not just games, TV, movies. I now don't like that song as much as I used to.

Have you played The Last of Us, that game has a seriously amazing story. I'm playing Horizon: Zero Dawn right now and it's got a good story too.
There was Invasion for the PS1, in it you played as a pilot of a new one person Starfleet fighter craft and had to deal with a new enemy who is eventually revealed to have a big connection to the history of a major alien race. It featured Micheal Dorn as Worf, who was your commanding officer.
The Getaway for the PS2 was basically GTA in modern day London.
Some of the older systems did have backwards compatability, for example you can play PS1 games on the PS2.
The modern systems do tend to have the games from previous systems as downloadables on their store, so you can play some of them.

There was also a version of the PS3 that played PS1 and 2 games, too. I had one, and it was pretty sweet up until it bricked itself: Unfortunately, it had an extremely flawed design with crappy cooling that caused it to overheat and shut off a lot unless you made significant modifications to it.

I had the PS1, and I had that game; it wasn't great, or anything as good as the Wing Commander series or its spiritual successor Starlancer. As I said, I'm looking for something like either above-mentioned game, with the same gameplay and amazingly designed Federation Starfleet/Klingon/Romulan/Cardassian/Dominion fighters (particularly Federation Starfleet ones, as seen in these pictures of fighters and the main capital ship from this fan concept/story Star Trek: Theurgy):

    AC-347 Knight-class Interceptor

Pretty much that: I've got one old game from the PS2 on my PS3 system (Warship Gunner 2 ) which I still find to be enjoyable on the PS3. There's also GOG, which has older PC games for sale as downladables that have been changed to work on current PC's.

I've never played the Wing Commander games, so when you said you wanted a game like them, I thought you just meant a starfighter game set in the Star Trek universe.
