Agreed. I don't mind a bit of updating.. Aztec-ing... color variation... but the Connie is iconic... Is hope they are gentle.. some of us older fans have weak constitutions when it comes to the Constitution.

I suspect it will be bigger even than that, 50% increase at a minimum which would make it 450m long which is about the same length as the original Excelsior but not as bulky, otherwise it's going to look ridiculous when shown against the Discovery or a ship like the Europa.25% Bigger ???

If it's just shown on its own and then it disappears never to be seen again it will be rather pointless, it is bound to be used more than that so at some point it will be alongside another Starfleet ship like the Discovery.
It's a ship of the line and shouldn't look like a Minnow when alongside other Starfleet vessels.
I really do think +50% is the minimum it will be based on what I have seen of the other Starfleet ships.
Even at +50% it's going to look like Discovery's sidekick, I can't see the designers and producers allowing that.
Some are saying circa 800m+ but that's got to be at the very extreme end of guestimates, although a Constitution that size would at least look like the senior partner alongside the Discovery.

1. It would not look right in a 2018 show. Despite the nostalgia goggles of alot of fans, the TOS design is VERY dated 1960s. I'm not going to argue why, because if you can't tell just by looking at it, you'll never get it. It doesn't look futuristic and sleek with modern sensibilities.
2. There is another reason that I won't go into here because that might divulge too much behind the scenes that I'm not supposed to talk about.

Yeah it's dated, I suspect the nostalgia people are going to have kittens, it's going to be 2009 all over again, I liked the 2009 Enterprise but I loved the Beyond Enterprise, it just looked more realistic and believable in size and scope.
Yeah be careful, I doubt your source would appreciate you spilling too much, it would be all over facebook and Twitter in minutes, the fallout is going to be bad enough as it is.
I will have to wait until tomorrow as the episode is scheduled to be shown until 1:30 in the morning UK time, will keep an eye out incase it gets released early though.

Ha, no. It will not be THAT far of a departure. In fact, I've been told it's not even as far a departure as the JJprise. Take the TOS Enterprise and the JJprise and blend them 50/50. That's my guess.
You can believe what you like, but the reason for changes absolutely isn't "because they can."
I LOVE TOS and the TOS Enterprise, by the way. But I understand the need to accept change for modern audiences, and new stuff is just fun anyway.
I don't think the change will be overall, but it won't be 1:1.
Look at the Defiant we've seen, it has all the basic shapes and parts, saucer with angled edges, round secondary hill with a very similar deflector housing, and round nacelles.

It hasn't been fine since TMP.
It needs updating, and I think what we saw on the defiant was a good update, minus what they changed to the saucer.
The TOS Enterprise is a GREAT looking ship. I fucking love it. But I also understand that it does not fit in with the DSC aesthetic or the modern scifi design expectations. I absolutely appreciate and love it for it's time. It's beautiful and iconic. But sometimes you gotta update to feel fresh. The last 50 years is exactly what made Trek get stale. You gotta bring new stuff to the table as society evolves.
