There are phaser emitters on the sides and tops of those tubes, and I think the part where it showed phaser beams coming straight out of them could just have been bad FX. I could see them being mega-phasers, or a sensor pods. I've seen unofficial blueprints call them "pulse phaser cannons" (though the cannons aren't canon as far as I know). But those same blueprints fail to ID the phaser emitters on the sides of the pods.
Either way, we didn't see the Shenzhou fire anything from there, so it doesn't prove or disprove anything.
No, you could be right about them being forward firing phaser cannons (if they're meant to be that on either ship).

Sounds pretty accurate.
That's exactly my prediction for the finale would be, excepttowards the end Discovery jumps back nine months earlier to prevent the war from happening and everybody's happy afterwards.
Culber reunites with Stamets and proposes to him, saying the "Will you take my hand??" line.
The war was already going 9 months ago.
Definitely fan-made, and she won't look like that.
Hmmm...I do like it overall, but
I don't like the way the bussards were done. Looks sloppy and incomplete - instead of the blinking lights and spinning fans like it should be, it's almost like they took a single snapshot of the bussard animation in time, mapped it on a hemisphere and started rotating it like a pinwheel. Kind of ruins the overall effect for me, honestly.
But the Feds were not on the brink of destruction...
Yeah but they said prevent the war not end it sooner
But that's the series version, not the pilot version! Clearly fake.
