Spoilers Season Finale Reveal!

“Stop stop evil Space Hitler”
I’m so appalled and shocked by your actions even though you made me eat someone and I saw you blow up an inhabited planet

Burnham: I am shocked....SHOCKED... that you're using torture to extract information from this Klingon prisoner

'Captain Georgiou:' I am the Emperor of the Terran Empire in the other universe. You should know better before transporting and 'kidnapping' me to your universe.

Burnham: Eeehhh :shrug::shrug:

From everything the fans say about this show it sounds like Burnham has continued to be an impulsive, reactive character whose occasional assertive behaviors serve to push the plot in one arbitrary direction or another.

My thoughts exactly. Despite others progressing in their character development (Saru, Tilly, L'Rell, etc), Burnham hasn't progressed much from the first episode of the series, and she's supposed to be the main character, and by extension, the moral compass of the show.

Of course, there are other characters who regressed from having a complex character to a cartoon villain before being killed off. But let's focus on the living characters now. I'd be really disappointed if Burnham still has the same persona now than when she first appeared in "The Vulcan Hello."

I know she's very attached to Georgiou and considers her like a mother-figure. That's why she transports her mentor's "Mirror twin" back to the Prime universe rather than letting her die in the MU. But she should've known better that the "Mirror twin" has a very different and darker persona than the Georgiou she knew. Because she hasn't realized it yet, she's still acting impulsively and emotionally esp. if 'Captain Georgiou' is around her.

She's more or less a gimmick character. We're told all these great things about her, but what's shown on screen is the complete opposite. On the top of that, Her character just has a ridiculous amount of trauma thrown at her for the sake of drama but with her it just turns into sappy angsty melodrama. She's a plot device and not a very good one unfortunately. I just don't find her compelling or interesting.

She just doesn't seem to learn. As she told Sarek, she makes emotional decisions (not in and of itself bad) but in her case, they're usually disastrous. I mean really, dragging evil Georgiou over because she feels guilty over the death of her mentor?

She's not even Ensign material, much less Captain material, but dollars to donuts, by next season, she'll be Captain or at least First Officer.

No wonder Starfleet is fucked.

To be fair regarding her rescue of EMPIPPA, she had just decided to go down fighting to buy Burnham time, theoretically committing a selfless act.

She did the right thing rescuing the Emperor. Starfleet should be about saving lives and reducing harm. Her later justifications about maybe getting intel on tactics is also valid.

She shouldn't be blamed for what the Admiralty decides to do.

I don't like the way she takes charge of situations using her (dubious) moral compass as a guide. That is not her place within the system of Starfleet. Even in this brief promo for the final (spoiler reference) she's arguing with Cornwell like she (Michael) is better than the others. She has not earned that right or status.

She'll be an Admiral in the TOS era....

Starfleet's job is to explore the galaxy and protect/defend the Federation. Saving Hitler Pippa does none of the above.

Agreed. I find Burnham the absolute least compelling character of the whole cast. I hope they find Prime Lorca next season. I miss Jason Isaacs. :(
Sadly, I have to agree. I think most of the cast is fantastic and I've been enjoying the series as a whole. But, Burnham is only passable. If she wasn't the focus, it wouldn't be such a big deal. I'm sure they'll make adjustments for the 2nd season.
