CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Setting aside the context for a moment, I'd like to point out that Stockholm Syndrome is not an official, diagnosable mental illness. Many in the field don't consider it to be "a thing".
No, but the cluster of symptoms can be used to define it, as well as ofer a reference point for clients :)

The problem with that is that symptoms can be correlation and not causation.

Hypothetical situation: Suppose I told you that a dozen people died minutes after they started eating ice cream. The symptoms were screaming, running, and rapid blood loss and organ trauma resulting in death. Is this an outbreak of "Sudden Ice Cream Death Syndrome", or did someone just shoot up a Cold Stone Creamery?

Your hyperbolic situation does not jive with actually real world counseling and diagnoses.

Versus "Stockholm Syndrome" were a person as a fundamental grasp of what that might be and is useful for education on the nature of trauma symptoms without using an inappropriate label like "Postraumatic Stress Disorder" which is often applied for any traumatic experience.

It wasn't meant to. It was meant to show how you can assemble a series of symptoms to create a fake disease if you don't require real causation. In other words, having the all symptoms of "Stockholm Syndrome" does not prove that the condition actually exists. That isn't to say that it doesn't, but there doesn't seem to be a scientific consensus.

That lack of consensus can be even more concerning when people start to use the "syndrome" metaphorically to describe other behaviors. It can cloak a conversation in the veneer of science when it's really just people talking angrily about other people.

As I've stated, Stockholm Syndrome is not a diagnosable mental illness. As such, I would expect that it's utility is more rhetorical than medical. As for PTSD, any sufficiently generic term is not terribly useful in describing a single patient's specific medical condition.

PTSD gets clustered together with any trauma so it can be rendered a bit mute when people are fixated on that term. So, it is useful as a starting point, as rhetoric, in order to engage clients.

Diagnosable or not, it is still useful in a clinical setting.

I'm not sure LFIM is diagnosable at this point

Sure he is. He could come out and admit donors will not get anything about apologize for all that happened and release the full financials.

Of course that has as much chance of happening as axanar getting made.

Methinks Jason Isaacs has been paying attention........

........and in honor of Slow Lane (or the Axa-lytes)

LFIM trying to put up a defense.......

And now slow lane claims he’s making an axanar short story.

Short for lane? I’ll put over/under at 1000 pages.

Is this the longest LFIM has been quiet? Seems like a while since he did anything really stupid.........have I missed something or is he just super quiet in Georgia?

Probably because he is doing nothing. Nothing to report and I think attacking discovery has not really helped him.

My guess is he'll stay low till after the DSC finale then come out with a "if you don't like DSC pay for the Axanar trailer so we can raise money to make axanar lite"

In the interest of keeping things going then, one thing in particular leapt out at me from this:

http://www.axanarproductions.com/quentin-tarantino-to-make-new-star-trek-movie/

Michael Bay? Really? Don’t get wrong wrong, I don’t mind a good Michael Bay explosion-fest, but it doesn’t really jive with Alec’s subsequent comment about Tarantino bringing story and character and not special effects to the table. It *does* however track pretty well with what we saw in the leaked Axanar script.
