The serial has been going on a lot longer than that...
As I recall, he was trying to do stuff like charging for a film school and to tours and the like, so he lost revenue on all of that, so who fronted the money in the first place is tangential to making further profits off of the property after the fact.
Yeah because he had no clue what he was doing. People tried to talk him out into building his own studio but he wouldn't listen.

It’s interesting Mike denies knowing about Alec’s plans to film in LA. Since he moved Alec has always pushed the idea that they’d still film in the old studio. Although being honest even if Axa-lite happens I’ve long doubted that would be the case. Unless you’re using an LA-based cast (increasingly unlikely with most of them dropping out) it makes more sense to just use the studio Alec’s currently trying to build.
The caveat is that of course there are no actual shooting plans. They’re filming in LA. They’re filming in Georgia. Not using the sets. Using the sets. It’s all vapour and reliant on raising another ridiculous sum of money for 2x15 minutes of fan film.

At this point I regard anyone who still is on AP's bandwagon as delusional to the point of being possibly physically dangerous. No, I am not exaggerating. I remember one time as a reporter going to a "press conference" with Jerry Falwell where he had packed the audience with his acolytes. After that I stopped wondering what Custer felt like at Little Big Horn. The vitriol and blind devotion expressed on the FB page and other sites is enough to provoke that same feeling when I've dared say something that didn't meet with LFIM's approval is much like that, excpet the reactions are much more unhinged.

(gawds that was creepy and anxiety producing watching the instagram video.... with so much of our misplaced hopes & trust showing up in it.)
