Spoilers The X-Files: Season 11

New episode tonight
Plus One
A spate of Deaths, in which the victims were plagued by their own doppelgangers, lead Muder and Scully to a pair of twins playing a dangerous game.
I'm wondering if this where the clip about parallel universes in the trailer comes from.

Thanks. I'm not so familiar with the original, so I wasn't sure if they did something different every week, and I have a tendency to not pay close attention to title sequences these days.

^ If I remember correctly, the majority of the time it was "The Truth is out there" or "I want to believe," and they'd only change it up randomly.

They're all there

This one was good, we got some nice Mulder and Scully stuff, and the twins were very creepy. My mom watched it with me, and we were couldn't tell if Karin Konoval was playing both of the twins or just the woman. My only issue is I wasn't real clear on how exactly they were making the doppelgangers appear.

I agree, I was a bit miffed that it was a Chris Carter penned episode but this one is the one I've enjoyed the most so far. They've cooled down with the fact editing and action and allowed the concept to be explored as well as some good character scenes with Muldron and Skullz.
Didn't pick up on Karin Konoval playing both twins, she nailed it this episode.

I liked the Scully and Mulder stuff, they're always wonderful together. I couldn't really get into the main plot. I'm not really sure what was really happening. I guess they were just able to make anything they wanted come true, but they only made doppelgangers of people they hated. The woman seemed to have some mental control over the people who ran the place she was in since they ate the bread pills she made or they were just afraid of her. I'm not really sure.

Next week's episode is a Darin Morgan one, so it should be great.

It seemed to me that, as they played Hangman, the doppelganger would appear with each letter guessed correctly. Once the whole name was spelled out the death would occur.

That was a weird episode and not in a good way. Those two woman must be two of the worst nurses ever and there was something off about the lawyer before he was put into the Hangman game.

The Mulder and Scully stuff was good as always but I still don't understand why they keep beating around the bush on the relationship.

They are friends with benefits now... Or was that going on for a while?

Nope. Maybe in s7 or so, but by IWTB, they were involved until s10. Now it's what ever you mentioned... and frankly it's a waste. Didn't like last night's ep apart from the case, DD and GA's acting and chemistry. Planning on not watching it again either.

I glanced at some interview with Carter. I think he likes the chemistry, but doesn’t want them to be a couple. I get the feeling that at this point they’ve been through so much together that they have a mutual understanding of each other and probably find it hard to even relate to anyone else.

I wish they could just be together. I’ve been shipping them since I was 9.

I loved that one! Good old-fashioned X-files, the plot was very interesting, the acting good, the Mulder/Scully "UL" twist in the end clever. I enjoyed it very much.

I also liked the pace and the absence of non-needed quick action.

I was a bit distracted while watching and didn't notice that Karin Konoval also played the brother.

Exactly. He wants to have his cake and eat it too. Thing is, it doesn't work that way. You have to pick a path and go with it. Otherwise... it's not worth it.

Aww cool. :) Been shipping them since I was in my teens.

Same here. Thank god for Glen. He treated them with respect and as far as I'm concerned they were together in his ep.

I'm not even sure of what to think of what they are in CC's. FWB's? Uh hard pass on that, CC.

Yea I appreciated the pace in it and the case itself. That was good.

Same here. I'm sooo tired of the same old song and dance. It's why I enjoyed 'This' more so than 'Plus One'.

Well, this was a really good one, although it left me confused about the nature of Mulder and Scully's relationship. But other than that, there was a lot to like. The Monster-Of-The-Week was an especially clever creation: Psychic twins who kill people with their own Doppelgangers. Presumably they just came by the psychic Doppelganger ability naturally, and the Hangman aspect of it is merely an affectation that they picked up as kids, related to their discovery of their power. Perhaps, in their madness, they never questioned that part of it. But, in addition to that, the story element of Mulder and Scully being beset by their Doppelgangers because of the overlap in the spelling of their names, and the twins' mutual crushes and jealousy-- which also led to their demise-- was really clever. So far (after only three episodes), this is the standout of the season-- and probably compared to last season as well.

I was kind of sorry that they didn't save the lawyer. He seemed to genuinely care about the kid he was defending. But, man, he had quite an armory built up. He was a bit crazy himself.

The other thing I really liked about this episode was the conversation with Mulder and Scully in bed together. Not too often these days does a show allow character time to unfold at such an adult pace. This was a real highlight of the series since I've been watching it.

This felt like a classic xfiles, with Mulder and Scully doing what they do best. The two villains were creepy and there were some creepy moments theoughout. It might be my favorite episode of the revival era so far.
