Okay, I've wasted a couple of hours trying to figure out how to use Substance with, first ART, and now Arnold. I think I've got it. VERY basic start on the model:
Sadly, I was not very effective today and did not finish the challenge. I still need to add consoles and finish the lighting and details.
After a LONG nap, I went back to work, but under a new toy: V-Ray! So I've mostly been playing with materials and lighting. I'll get back to modeling soon.

I like the colours - quite soothing and relaxing. It would make a nice sociable lounge area as it is However, I'm really looking forward to seeing it as a bridge!
Yikes! Just had a look at the last 360 I'd posted...this one is MUCH higher-resolution and updated textures (and modeled stairs rather than textured mesh): https://momento360.com/#ud/62c25135b92b4f9aa9bb974b0a4d0928
Is there a site or a program that allows people to do walkthroughs of models such as bridges and starship decks? I know there's Unreal4, but I have no idea how to do anything for that, yet. Also, how and where would you post it? For future use.
Waurgh, I thought I’d subscribed to the thread, how’d I miss all this! I find the work fantastic, what you’ve done has got my old sketch literally leaping off its page. I like how you’ve actualized the little alcoves for the exits. The TNG Color palate was unexpected but makes the whole thing very welcoming. Looking forward to more! There’s a couple things that I’d not thought of, that your artistic license has improved. The Conn pit for example was meant to be only one step down from the surrounding deck plate; the things you’ve designated as steps are actually meant to be Voyager-esque railings for people to hold on to. Similarly the Captain’s little platform is meant to be mostly on the same level as the flanking stations with a different color carpet surrounding it (maybe an inch higher). The way you’ve played with the vertical aspect however makes a lot of sense and improves visibility towards the forward view screen, which is a huge nitpick of mine for bridge ergonomics... I can’t stand how Sisko spent five years commanding the Defiant while pretending to look at the view screen when all he could really see is the back of someone’s head. Musta been nice the day Nog took the conn. Keep it up man, it’s awesome stuff! Such a great thing seeing this happen to a little sketch from fifteen years ago! Mark
Thank you! I'm VERY relieved to hear you like it! I never liked Voyager or DS9 (Voyager is growing on me now), so I hadn't even considered those design aspects! Again, if I can peel myself away from Facebook a bit today, hoping to get consoles modeled before bed.
Oh, and I haven't forgotten about the structural struts. I just haven't gotten to them, and I'm thinking of integrating them with the ceiling structure. It's going to be kind of a carpenter's nightmare, TV production-wise.
So...turns out that deadlines are not my thing... Facebook claims another day as victim and I slept all day yesterday into today after being awake for 40 hours (for the nth time in a row). I also see that (if memory serves) I've started a trend on some groups and forums with 360 Panoramas.
