I really hope that PixelMagic's info is correct. If they replace the beautiful original Connie with this thing I will probably literally cry.
Did you cry when you saw the TMP Refit?
The Kelvin Timeline’s 1701?

Not meant as a "stab" or at you in particular so much as I can see the complaints coming already, speaking broadly. We don't have all the information but the speculation is starting and slanting towards the negative and its frustrating.Again, I don’t know if that "friendly stab" is for me but if it is you couldn’t be more wrong. I happen to like that "wireframe" and I’d be perfectly happy whether it’s a Terran/Mirror refit or a Prime redesign. Go figure!![]()

My theory is they didn't blink an eye because it would have brought the scene to a screeching hault for the crew to mention it looked modified when only a minority of hardcore fanboys would notice.

No. It is a refit. It is also the most beautiful starship ever.Did you cry when you saw the TMP Refit?
Almost, it is pretty hideous. But at least it was in a parallel universe that I can ignore. The Kelvin Timeline’s 1701?
They all seemed to recognize it immediately without blinking an eye.
Are you blind? This is beautiful though.
I'm fine them updating it a bit as long as they keep the basic shape and proportions. This is not the case with this one. I.e. any redesign that would be visible on such a simplified wireframe is way too far.Don't you mean incorrect though? Pixel said they're still re-imagining the Connie in the prime universe.
Cage Enterprise looks like what it was, a really cool model made for a TV show pilot in the mid 1960's. It would not look right now. It's been discussed to death, but I there's no way that model would look right. For starters it was designed with completely different lighting than is used now or at any point since TOS ended. DSC films space as dark, which unless you're close up near a star, it is. A TOS Connie would be impossible to see on the screen unless its understood they have some glowing smooth skin for unknown technological dead end. Audiences who are not TOS fans would find it ridiculous, and honestly by now there have been enough love letters to TOS.Not to mention we've seen Connies before DIS. The Cage establishes what the Constitution class looks like. It wouldn't make sense for it to look the way it does, Get redesigned only to go back to looking the way it does before the redesign 10 years later in TOS.
Agreed. That kind of system was almost inherently wicked from every standpoint. There was no way it could have benefited those who lived under it, and hopefully history is shut of it forever, before long. But I agree with @SimonTC that the Stalinist/Bolshevik brand of Communism doesn't get nearly enough credit for its inherent evil that it should.
Unless it isn't the Enterprise, and that look was another upgrade. Not to mention we've seen Connies before DIS. The Cage establishes what the Constitution class looks like. It wouldn't make sense for it to look the way it does, Get redesigned only to go back to looking the way it does before the redesign 10 years later in TOS.

I'll take that as a 'yes'.It looks nearly identical to the TOS connie, the major change being the pylons.
Do I need to make a comparison picture?I'll take that as a 'yes'.

Sucks to be CBS then, because fans are going to riot.Oh, for sure. I've been told there is no chance it will look like the TOS Connie. It will be modified for a modern aesthetic for sure. Although I have not seen it, my impression is that it will be redesigned, but still unmistakably a Connie the instant you see it.
The Enterprise and thus the Constitution Class is one of if not thee most recognizable starships in Sci-Fi history. That's true. I guess we'll see. My theory is they didn't blink an eye because it would have brought the scene to a screeching hault for the crew to mention it looked modified when only a minority of hardcore fanboys would notice.

Meaning the fact you think only a minority of hardcore fanboys would notice is utterly mind-boggling.
Has the "visual reboot" been confirmed by the members of the production? Because until it's flat out stated I'm not going for that. It's not ludicrous, It has an established look and should follow it. Beef up the quality of things but follow the look. That's common sense.Except Discovery is known to be a visual reboot, so the "look" of Connies, Klingons, Klingon ships, starfleet uniforms, and everything else can be thrown right out the window. To expect them to stick to a 1960s aesthetic is ludicrous and I cannot believe how often this has to be explained. It should be common sense. It's mind boggling.
