I first thought that, but why would the cuckoos care about a diamond for payment? Look at the level of mind control they showed in the attack on the sentinel agents. Using their powers to get millions of $$$ would be so easy.

I don't understand why shows will come back from break, do one new episode, then a repeat, and then show the finale. Is there a reason why they can't have a longer break and then come back and show the last two episodes?

I gather it's a 2-hour finale. Maybe the original plan was to show it over two weeks, and they changed their minds, but they'd already locked in the finale date. Whatever the case, I'm sure they have their reasons that we laypeople don't know about because we don't know how to do their job. Just because we don't know the reasons, that doesn't mean there aren't any.

As fans, we obviously have to jump to the conclusion that they are intentionally trying to kill the show!!! because.... that makes... sense ... to someone... somehow.

Major male skewing college football game scheduled for primetime, so they most likely didn't want it airing opposite it, and dragging it's rating (season average) down.
NBC & ABC's Monday lineups are female targeted, and are the only ones airing first run episodes...

Then don't assume that his power is (just?) super strength. Assume his mutant power is to generate cut diamonds using other materials.
