Spoilers The Gifted - Season 1

Well, it's just her face and voice, but as she mentions in the article, she has two stand-ins/acting doubles to read with her for the split-screen takes, or to appear in the scenes where they're shot from behind or out of focus. I noticed a number of shots where they found ways to cheat without using VFX, like keeping the sisters' faces blurry until two of them had moved out of frame. And they didn't really do any complicated interactions between the sisters -- it was mostly just basic split-screen stuff of the sort that movies have been doing since the '30s. So it's nowhere near the level of Orphan Black's twinning effects -- they kept it a lot more simple. The only really impressive part was how they got the actress's timing and delivery right for scenes where the sisters were talking in unison or finishing each other's sentences.

Magneto was a part of the HC Inner Circle back in Chris Claremont's time on the book. He even briefly ousted Sebastian Shaw as the leader of the Club.

I was more surprised by the implication that Magneto belonged to the Hellfire Club. That's sort of blending the HC with the Brotherhood. I'm pretty sure they were always separate in the comics.
The Club was never a mutant organization, it was just one that included mutants as members. be interesting to see which way this version goes.

This was a pretty good episode. Especially the beginning. Loved the different style of flowers between the two funerals.

Totally did not see the Lucifer crossover coming. The first of many Marvel/DC crossovers after Disney buys DC.

Hellfire Club certainly seems to be an interesting addition to the story. Especially with the Cuckoos going quite a bit darker than what the other Hellfire members seemed to want.

So that guy squeezed coal into a diamond? That's a Superman power, right? Who else has done things like that in the comics?

I've been watching Lucifer since the beginning, including Mon. night, and I didn't notice anything either.

In his eulogy, Agent Turner spoke of the Biblical Lucifer as a metaphor for the rebellious mutants. Referring to it as a "crossover" is a joke acknowledging the fact that The Gifted airs immediately after Lucifer on FOX.

I bowed out for a bit because the episodes were all samey but I've really enjoyed the Cuckoos in the last couple.

Next week Agent Turner will take a flight from LA to Vegas and mention how the Strucker siblings are a lethal weapon.

A series low 2.54 million for the show's return. I expect another season low for the finale, since it's a double episode in two weeks. This show is right on the ropes right now in regards to season 2. Season 3 simply won't happen.

DVR and streaming are good enough for renewal when you add in live viewing.

To the episode the Frost Sisters and the Hellfire club has certainly kicked things into high gear. Lorna now has some friends who like her aren’t afraid to pull p

Lorna's parentage has been a matter of uncertainty in the comics since her debut. Apparently, the story that introduced her had Magneto claim to her that he was her father, but it was then revealed to be a hoax Magneto used to manipulate her. It wasn't until 2003 that she was retconned into being Magneto's daughter for real.

They retconned the Magneto in her first story to be a robot made by Magneto. Ah the Silver Age. That retcon left her rudderless for a very long time after she left the X-Men in Giant Sized.

But, Matt Nix is proceeding in terms of The Gifted here like it’s year zero for Lorna as in this is Lorna before she ever got to know him.

I will say from her responses it sounds like he knows who her real father is and is somewhat reactive about it given what her friends think of him, but doesn’t really know him to the degree that the comic character does. Well we will see in coming issues.

Honestly, I'm only watching because I like Amy Acker, and she's not in it enough to make me come back for a second season.

The Gifted has been renewed for a second season. Oh yah I am celebrating.

Honestly, I'm only watching because I like Amy Acker, and she's not in it enough to make me come back for a second season.

Her plotline got sucky and repetitive no doubt about that and honestly needed to be cut down for the good of the show away from her laser like focus on wanting to live an ordinary life but I am pretty sure they are going to shake things up. The Stucker family and the Underground needs a massive change and I think it’s going to happen.

There is a reason why comic characters don’t typically have parents with them to tell them what to do.

I am glad this show got renewed. Hopefully they wrap it up at the end of S2 as S3 is practically impossible at this point.

As for the storyline, I think they need to stop name dropping the X-Men unless they plan on having them show up in the show at some point.

Great news about the renewal.

With next week being the season finale, I could easily see a split happening in the group, with some of them joining with the Cuckoos or the Hellfire Club, and the rest of them frowning at their choice. That would set up a second season conflict nicely.

The antagonists can't be Trask Industries or Sentinel Services every single week. A conflict with their fellow mutants would make things a bit more interesting. Especially if it's with family, like Lorna or Andy.

TV ratings aren't what they used to be. Nor are they as important as they used to be. I wouldn't give up on a third season so soon.

That said, Burn Notice had a legit actual ending, so hopefully when the time comes, be it next season or whenever, Nix will be able to wrap things up nicely again.

I don't disagree with you.

That said, we're only what, 10 or 11 episodes into this show? They obviously needed and wanted some time to get us used to the main cast of the show, but now that they've done that, they've introduced the Cuckoos and the now the Hellfire Club. And just this week we got some talk about Lorna's Father.

I think it's safe to expect that they'll get further and further into X-Men lore as the series progresses. Might as well ask Ryan Reynolds if he wants to do a tv episode.

It sounds like they'll be dealing with the X-Men a bit more in the finale.
I haven't been to bothered by the references to them we've gotten.

A week and a half as in MLK Day and it’s a two part finale 8PM to 10PM.

The coming episodes are very much about Lorna and her father according to the actress and yes we are going to see Lorna do some serious damage.

How much are we going to learn about Lorna’s relationship with her father, Magneto?

Emma Dumont: During the final three episodes, we take an in depth look at Polaris, her lineage and what that means for her. Her relationship with her dad is awful. She doesn’t have one and she can’t stand him. She can’t stand him for two reasons. For one, what he’s done to her, how he’s abandoned her, even though they’re so similar, even though they struggle with the same things. Then on the other end, she just hates the way he’s depicted by the mutants, the way they represent him for being a bad guy, for being evil. He’s someone who would hurt humans. To Polaris, she’s like, “Well yeah I would hurt a human too if they were killing a mutant,” you know what I mean? She’s suddenly questioning “Am I a villain too because I believe in those same things?”

This is going to be so silly, but there’s a show called Rick and Morty. Do you know Rick and Morty?

Of course.

Okay, I love Rick and Morty. There’s a really dumb episode that’s about Beth and Rick and there’s a line where Beth goes to Rick and says, “Dad, I spent my whole life trying to convince myself that you’re a good guy and that I’m nothing like you.” Then Rick goes, “But what you’ve realized is that I’m not a very good guy and you’re exactly like me.”

I think those two lines are a perfect representation of Polaris and Magneto’s relationship. She knows he’s not a good person but she tries to convince herself every day that he’s a good guy, but also that she’s nothing like him. It’s so random and weird but I think about that scene so much.

So yes I expect a schism,

The show is pulling a 2.0 and over 8 million viewers in the US and much more globally for each ep. But, I hope they can pull a Buddy season two and capture the imagination. Certainly millions who missed out will be giving it a shot this summer.

As for the promo makers they need a change. They should have just played up the Magneto lines and one of the many big scenes they only half showed. It was a poor ad. Either way the Underground should start calling themselves the X-Men.

I think the Cuckoos may be the Hellfire Club's version of the Hound Program.

Like how the Hound program is using drugs and combining dna to strengthen powers, I think that diamond wasn't given to them for monetary value. I think it is a shattered fragment of Emma Frost in diamond form. The Cuckoos using it to increase their powers or perhaps maintain them.

The boss made the diamond when he crushed... something, I can't remember now, in his hand.
