News Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville

As far as future stories on The Orville, I'm wondering if they plan to do a story about Tribbles that have teeth, with bounty hunters pursuing the Cyrano Jones character. If they do, it would add to the humor of the callback to Critters by having the bounty hunters played by Terrence Mann and Don Opper. This story would of course be done because Scott Grimes, the actor that plays Malloy, got his start as a child star in the film Critters.

It would be cool if they could have some sort of super furry Lab Rat escape from the science section and wreak havoc with Malloy being the hero. Just don't hurt the lab rat.

CAPTAIN STEWART: Captain Mercer, believe me when I say that it is impossible to overstate the extreme sensitivity and gravity of this matter, both diplomatically and -

MERCER: Why do you always do that?

CAPTAIN STEWART: I beg your pardon?

MERCER: Make everything into a twenty minute speech? I mean, you really like the long form -

CAPTAIN STEWART: Very well. Pay attention, dummy. This is important.

MERCER: Thanks, I think.

It still has to have Terence Mann and Don Opper. If not it's a wasted opportunity.

Well, alternate versions of popular fiction existing in fictional universes is not unheard of, especially if it's done to keep the internal logic of said fictional universe.
Like Wolverine in Logan repeatedly trying to tell everyone around him that the stories in the X-Men comics were all gussied up and fictionalized versions of what really happened.

I love this show. Feels very TNG.

I expected a comedy spoof and I dreaded the Ed-Kelly stuff, but it's not about them bickering. This show smashed my expectations like a glass egg. In fact I laugh when they joke aboout their marriage.

Apparantly said there will be more Star Trek cameos - who do you think they'll have? (Stewart is possibly a definite as MacFarlane has him in practically every project now!)

Ugh...season 2 won't be ready for the Fall tv season

Speaking to reporters on Thursday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena — where his Family Guy had just delivered a presentation — Orville creator and captain Seth McFarlane said that Season 2 of Fox’s outer-space dramedy would be “at least 14” episodes, compared to the freshman run’s 12 (which itself was whittled down from an initial 13).
“I’d rather do fewer episodes and have them be better content-wise than do [the increasingly less-typical] 22 and have them be filler,”

MacFarlane also indicated that The Orville won’t come out of dry dock for its sophomore run in time for fall, but instead premiere later in the 2018-19 TV season. “No, there’s too much to do,” he said, alluding to either his workload as one of the busiest men in the business and/or the pre- and post-production demanded by the effects-heavy series.

Well, it sounds like the reorg under DIsney may not be a good thing for shows like The Orville after all - basically, Disney plans to spit out the Fox network and Fox News but retain ownership of 21st Century Fox studios. The expectation is that "New Fox" will become a heavily live entertainment and sports network, and will no longer have an owner's interest in MacFarlane's shows or anything else produced by Disney's Fox.

So, at least we'll get two seasons. Probably.

Glad you finally got access to view all of the episodes! I'm guessing it was worth the wait?
Yea. I love it!! Thanks

Disney didn't buy Fox News, just 21st Century. Has it bought the network? I know the Devil said he's just keeping news and sport

Ah, man. So, is that fourteen new episodes total, or thirteen new episodes with the one yanked away from us from season one, added?

Who called it:
Appel also teased a potential crossover with MacFarlane's live-action series The Orville. They said the writers of Family Guy have written a script where "we end of live on the bridge of The Orville." He said they've sent it to MacFarlane for approval. But don't hold your breath.

"I sort of live with everything I do being compared to Family Guy," MacFarlane said, "so my first instinct is to let that be its own thing."

But that doesn't mean he's definitely saying no: "To be continued," MacFarlane said.
