News Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville

Well, it sounds like the reorg under DIsney may not be a good thing for shows like The Orville after all - basically, Disney plans to spit out the Fox network and Fox News but retain ownership of 21st Century Fox studios. The expectation is that "New Fox" will become a heavily live entertainment and sports network, and will no longer have an owner's interest in MacFarlane's shows or anything else produced by Disney's Fox.

So, at least we'll get two seasons. Probably.
Would there be any chance of this moving to ABC? Are there any other Disney owned channels that it could potentially be on?

Well he still does Family Guy.

And American Dad.

And makes movies.

And he records albums and does concerts.

When does this guy sleep?!

So it sounds like as long as they are renewed shows like The Orville will continue to air on what is now the Fox network.

Yes, but what exactly is "the rest of their run?"

Fox currently favors renewal of TV shows that they own a piece of, and right now MacFarlane's shows are among them.

After the split, the New Fox Network will have no ownership stake in them.

You know, networks sometimes cancel shows that are bringing in higher ratings than the shows they renew, because for a variety of reasons they may be making more money on the lower-rated shows. When the success of a TV show is measured by the difference between 3.2 and 3.6 million viewers, it's never secure.

Could be, but by the time that becomes a factor, Fox won't own any of the scripted stuff on the network, so they'll all be on even footing.
I guess they could go and do a non-Fox purge, but as long as they're still doing decent rating I could see at least a few of them surviving.

I just read an article on IGN about how FX could continue to offer more adult oriented content even under Disney, and that got me wondering if perhaps that could be a new home for The Orville.

I could see them not going to him out of fear that anything he did would be to Trekish.

I'm not sure how it would be possible for them to be any more Trekkish without the words "Star Trek" in the title.

Orville has to team up with the Starship Interprise and all the TNG actors play the crew of this Interprise. The mission is to stop the alien androids called the Borgians from invading and brainwashing people, making them useful slaves.

Subtle ;)

I feel like someone here called that there won't be a "crossover," but there will be a scene on Family Guy of the FG characters on the Orville.
I predicted a few pages back that Family Guy might do something Orville related for one of their cutaway gags.
I kind of expect a some point a Family Guy cutaway gag to be a live action sequence featuring Orville actors in costume, but that's as far as I'd want a crossover to go.
