Spoilers Dark (New Netflix sci-fi Series)

Hi all

Has anyone seen this new German sci-fi series on Netflix yet?

I found it to be brilliant; slow at first but then it really grips you. The whole interwoven
time travel
element I found to be fascinating.

I think it's wild that Netflix's new releases simultaneously include a movie called Bright and a series called Dark, but they have nothing to do with each other.

I watched five episodes. It's OK. I'll get around to finishing it later. At least it's helping with my German skills.

When I logged on last night, I got BRIGHT! as the main screen, and DARK right under it as the first "trending" selection.

I'm watching the series dubbed in English. The story revolves around people in the small German community of Winden, with interconnected events occurring in three different time periods, e.g., the years 1953, 1986, and 2019. I've watched up to Episode 9.

It's a good show. I find it interesting how the children have obviously never seen photos of their parents as children, or their grand parents as younger adults to not have recognized them. I guess the mystery surrounding the events was more important to the story than the shock value of Mikel recognizing his high school aged parents.

I'll have to watch this series as I've heard good things about it. I was skimming the international menu the other day and was very impressed at the number of non-English shows listed as Netflix originals. I imagine these are produced in conjunction with local companies like they do in Canada, but Netflix commitment to be scene as a truly global entertainment business is impressive.

Netflix is about to have it's ass handed to them by Disney so they really need to try everything they can.

While "Dark" is produced by the German production company Wiedemann & Berg (who also produced the Oscar-winning "The Lives of Others", btw), it didn't premiere on German TV, but went straight to Netflix. So, in that sense, yes, it actually is a Netflix Original.

Wife and I just spent the past day and a half watching both seasons........Kinda like a Stephen King meets LOST vibe. They are filming season 3 NOW.......really enjoyed it.

I've been a bit slow on the uptake with season two, but I finally watched it. That's a great cliffhanger to keep me guessing until season three, which I believe is the final one. It seems like that as well as the sprawling time travel story, we have an alternate timeline in play as well. Hee!

I did myself a disservice not rewatching the first season before this, as trying to remember certain parts of the story was a little confusing at times.

It's been a great ride so far though.

So I researched the first five episodes that I stated a couple of years ago and then blazed through the rest of the show. I stopped just when it was getting amazing and I regret that now.

As of right now, I'm convinced it's the best television show ever. It's lovingly crafted from the first scene to this last and manages to tell an intricate and complicated story.

Go watch it.
