Poll How many season of Discovery will be produced

How do you prove Discovery is the primary driver of CBSAA, Netflix and others subscriptions? Also how does that prove boding well (or not) for any other style shows? When did they say there would be a Discovery spin off and a third season of Discovery?

Yeah, that sentence was poorly constructed. I realized it after I posted but was too tired to fix it.

Anyway, what I meant was that DSC was the primary driver os CBSAA subscriptions since it's premiere by CBS's own admission. I'm sure it has done quite well driving new subscriptions on Netflix "and others" because Star Trek has such a large international following. Heck, even people who profess nothing but disdain for the show have bought subscriptions.

Yeah, It's probably 15. Fuller wanted 10, and CBS wanted 13, then they added 2 more.

Agree. Aside from TOS, Star Trek has consistently shown the tendency to improve drastically in the 2nd and 3rd years.

Agree. Aside from TOS, Star Trek has consistently shown the tendency to improve drastically in the 2nd and 3rd years.

In the past Star Trek shows have all tended to start too conservatively and slowly (Ent, TNG & Voyager in particular), it made their first seasons patchy and rather boring but Discovery has started pretty well, even if we include the first two episodes which in my opinion had issues but at least I cant say it was boring.

If Discovery makes it to season 4 or beyond, we will generally look at its first season the same way. That perspective only comes in retrospect.

As the cast and crew get better at what they are doing, and as they alter the formula along the way, finding out what works better for them, they retroactively tarnish the first or second season.

It's like when a car company changes the design of a model. The new model, over time, starts to make the old look less attractive than it once was.

I'd have no problem with a few more episodes per season, but outside of shows on broadcast networks, do any dramas get 20+ episodes these days? I agree 13-15 is probably what we're getting from now on.

I voted at least 3. I think it will end up being 4-5, although before it ends I think there will be another show 1-2 seasons into its run already.

There are major writing problems, with many examples given in reviews of each episode in this forum.

Sounds much more exciting. No b.s. excuse of a spore drive, and holographic projection transmission technology out of place!

There's probably a way for them to see which shows are being viewed by subscribers, the number of times, etc., and then use that to decide which shows to retain and which ones to drop.

Sure CBSAA is happy with STD, with Neflix footing most of the bill for season 1.

unless the show improves...i do not believe it will be more than two seasons...i like it but in the perspective of the big audience..i do not know....i think if the episodes continue to grow on emotion and action it will made it for more seasons..if not...we...audience want simple things..and those simple things are always the key to success..loyalty, courage, love, hate, sacrifice...we want to see and feel those feelings on the characters and on the story

Since it was conceived of as an anthology story, I can't picture what they could possibly do in season 2. Will it just be Burnham that goes on? Burnham and Tilly? Many of the other characters aren't really compatible with a second story.

I dunno, so many new variables on this one. This is an entirely new animal, and I think it's not fair to compare with the previous Trek shows, given the shorter season but bigger budget and pay platform. A better comparison would be cable programs like Game of Thrones, wouldn't it?

My gut says that it would have to be at least three. Personally, I think it might have more staying power if they do some sort of anthology-style flip in the narrative. But that's just me: I was a little disappointed --as much as I like what Discovery has ended up becoming-- that they didn't go with Fuller's original anthology idea.
