No, it isn't. Calling a sheep a cow doesn't actually mean that it is a cow.
No, it's a Star Trek series, built around the concept of "action/adventure" with social/political commentary woven within it. A human drama about how humanity survives to the future and the challenges they must overcome there together.

Yes, Discovery is Star Trek.

Well, you're free to believe that if you want to.
It's not a matter of belief. It's a matter of understanding Star Trek's history, what lays out the foundation, and the different products that have come from it. I don't consider TNG to be Star Trek in the way that TOS is, but it's still Star Trek, whether I "believe" it or not.

You're free to believe that if you want to, too.
Save for the fact that I can point to GR's own notes on Star Trek and what it is at its base.

Regardless of personal feelings, which fans often operate from, Star Trek is a brand that is designed to entertain. Other meaning has certainly been put to it, but that doesn't change what it is at its core.

The fact some don't "feel" like its Star Trek doesn't change the fact that it is Star Trek, by definition.

Why be delighted with an early end? I get that you (and others) are not fans of this iteration and that’s totally fine. But why wish a premature end of something many other people ARE enjoying?

I don't want it to fail. By the same token, I wouldn't be broken hearted if it were replaced with something else.

If you're using "raped my childhood" unironically it's totally drama. Using terms like "real Star Trek" it's totally drama. Saying CBS/Discovery is "vandalizing" Star Trek is totally drama.
No. It's an opinion. One I was asked for.

Like I say, I'm really not looking for a fight. I don't care if others disagree; they're welcome to their opinion, and they are not going to have any effect on mine.

"dramatic opinion" maybe? ;)

Also, how is saying "raped my childhood" (how is always my question) not dramatic? DISCO didn't delete the previous series nor is it required watching to be considered a "True Star Trek Fan" (trademark pending).

Agreed. And yet here you are, trying to debate it. :)
I'm not debating, I'm stating a fact.

Anyway, the game you're playing is boring, I'm done, so let me spoil how this ends, you keep making these posts until someone calls you a name so that you can report that post, a mod will show up and warn the user you reported but also tell you to knock it off because it is quite obvious you're intigating. The End.

Why? There is nothing to suggest such an outcome.
No, it's just my opinion. When looking at numbers of viewers for some series, first episodes always get most viewers, even highest number for the entire series. The fact is that season 2 was approved without looking at number of viewers. But that will be taken into consideration in the next seasons. Are there some real numbers of how many viewers have seen Discovery?

Newp. Call me whatever you like, I've never reported a post in my life.

I didn't "intigate" anything. Sorry to spoil your scenario.

I like this thread, it reminds me of the old JJPrise size argument thread.

There are those who think that by stating something over and over again it will make it true, Discovery is a fully licensed and canon series in the Star Trek Prime Universe according to the producers until clearly shown and proven otherwise.

That's good enough for me, even though I think the individuals who came up with the new Klingons and their ships made changes that were not necessary, that doesn't ruin the show for me or cause me to need to cry about it all the time.

Some elements of the fandom think they own Star Trek when they really don't, which is what brings forth the absolute statements with nothing to back them up whatsoever except that they don't like it.

Yet they keep watching it which speaks volumes really because they literally cant stop themselves from doing so, which makes me think the problem isn't the show at all.

Its funny really but this sort of thing mainly happens in Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who forums, never seen it anywhere else.

I wonder why.

I asked for your views as to why you want the series to fail. You gave an opinion. So far, so good. However, it is empirical and irrefutable fact that DSC is a Star Trek series. It’s got all the necessary trademarks and copyrights and everything. That you don’t like it doesn’t make it non-Trek, any more than the fact I loathe pistachio ice cream fails to render it non-ice cream. It would be delusional for me to assert otherwise.

I really feel bad that I'm applauding what, to me, is just sound logic, but I'm going to anyway.

Why thank you!

Well, I guess we will just have to agree to differ, since my opinion is otherwise.
