I'd be delighted if it was over before this one.I'd be okay if it was over after this one.
As season two is confirmed I'll be an optimist and say it will stop there.

Why be delighted with an early end? I get that you (and others) are not fans of this iteration and that’s totally fine. But why wish a premature end of something many other people ARE enjoying?I'd be delighted if it was over before this one.

Yeah as long as it is only on the CBS pay per view as their main draw it will be safe, if it ever gets transferred onto the cable channel that is the time to worry, also Netflix is apparently paying big money for the show and it's doing pretty well financially from what I hear and paying for itself nicely. At least a third, CBS won't be giving up on their platform's big draw that quickly. And as long as Netflix keep up the contract, it will run longer than that. I'd imagine we will end up with at least one additional spin-off too.
Why? There is nothing to suggest such an outcome. In my opinion, it will end after season two. Producers said that Discovery was profitable even before show started airing. Naturally they got second season. And from now on number of viewers will determine if it will go on. We'll see how many viewers will go back for second part of season 1, let alone for season 2. I think that will be much smaller number of viewers.
Because as long as Discovery is seen as successful (and that's arguable, but I'll assume it for this thread), we're never going to get an actual real Star Trek series again. CBS has thrown Star Trek under a bus; IMO, they are using this show to deliberately vandalise it. And to me, that's terribly sad.Why be delighted with an early end? I...don’t know what to say to such a thing. (Actually, I do, but as this isn’t the appropriate forum, I’ll keep it to myself.)Because as long as Discovery is seen as successful (and that's arguable, but I'll assume it for this thread), we're never going to get an actual real Star Trek series again. I can't just write Discovery off as "not my thing", sorry. I've tried. The show makes me use phrases like "raped my childhood" unironically for the first time ever. I wish it nothing but failure.

Discovery is an actual, real Star Trek series, wether you like it or not.Because as long as Discovery is seen as successful (and that's arguable, but I'll assume it for this thread), we're never going to get an actual real Star Trek series again.
Yes, they are deliberately vandalizing Star Trek, that's a reasonable statement and absolutely what's happening.CBS has thrown Star Trek under a bus; IMO, they are using this show to deliberately vandalise it. And to me, that's terribly sad.

No it isn't, whether you assert it or not.Discovery is an actual, real Star Trek series, wether you like it or not.
Well no, vandalising. I'm not sure what "candalising" would be, but I doubt they're doing that.Yes, they are deliberately candalising Star Trek, that's a reasonbale statement and absolutely what's happening.![]()
Yes, it is. It may not be to your tastes, but that doesn't make it less "Star Trek."No it isn't, whether you assert it or not.
No, it isn't. Calling a sheep a cow doesn't actually mean that it is a cow.Yes, it is.
