Neelix and Dexa moving too fast?

Episode "End Game"
SEVEN: How's Brax?
NEELIX [on screen]: Wonderful. Thanks for asking. I know I can never replace his father, but
SEVEN: I have no doubt the boy looks up to you.
NEELIX [on screen]: Orange, grid ten twelve. I haven't told anyone, but I'm thinking of asking Dexa to marry me.
SEVEN: She'd be wise to accept.
NEELIX [on screen]: That's enough of my love life. How about yours?

Neelix is already thinking of marrying Dexa and being Brax's step father when they've only just met 2 episodes earlier. That's alittle quick ain't it?

Well, in his defense then, it's not like Neelix was going to meet other Talaxian women anytime soon...

They may just have their sh*t together more than humans do.We have a lot of social baggage to cut through by comparison. Talaxians were just exterminated - whereas we humans are divided and conquered by the Boob Tube. That takes more jibber jabber to work through. Look at the enlightened Vulcans - come Pon Farr season, they will even start grabbing at Klingons to father babies with them - or anyone in arm's reach.

Tuvok: "Come no closer, captain."
Captain Janeway: <steps closer>
Tuvok: "IT'S NOT THE PON FARR THIS TIME"
Captain Janeway: "Bat cave still needs the breeze."

And Dexa had apparently not found any of the Talaxian men in their colony suitable. It's not as if she will meet other Talaxian men in addition to those from her colony, as they're a long way from Talax.

And Neelix didn't leave Voyager on a whim, to be "just friends" with Dexa. He was serious about her before leaving, or else he'd not have left a place that obviously meant a lot to him.

I wonder whether Neelix moving fast may have also been influenced by his relationship with Kes, where he didn't objectively have a whole lot of time.

They were the first Talaxians he'd met in years after never expecting to see another Talaxian again. Makes sense to me that he would quickly develop feelings.

Homestead: Stardate 54868.6
Endgame: Stardate 54973.4

According to my tricorder, that's
42 days(6 weeks).

The question is... Have they started making babies yet? Or are they gonna wait until the big day?

How about Trip and T'Pol. He was about 30. She was like 65.

Yes... T'Pol is quite the cougar.

Maybe Brax will be enough for them.

I wonder if Neelix took over leadership of the colony from Oxilon.

Neelix could run circles around Oxilan, but I don't think he'd want to. He finds his fulfillment in serving others

I have noticed for awhile that everything is moving too quickly/fast in Voyager: friendship, love, betrayal, quiet or stormy situations, etc... with quick trips between feelings and/or situations and usually, a return to normal after 45 minutes!

Here, it was imperative to give a very good reason for Neelix to leave those he considered as his family and then, as Dunlago said, it's not like Neelix was going to meet other Talaxian women anytime soon....
And as we say here, "c'est l'occasion qui fait le larron!" ("this is the opportunity makes the thief!") . Neelix was lucky to not only find a Talaxian female in the middle of nowhere, but he got the occasion too, to get a family, These are opportunities not to be missed when they arise, unless crazy or stupid! :D
