Here are some details on the conflict that some have now begun calling a "Civil War" inside the league between Jones and Goodell (and Falcons owner Arthur Blank).
The NFL has also leaked a video of a drunken Jones making a borderline racist joke. Man, Goodell doesn't fuck around when you piss him off; this is clearly a precursor to the league taking the Sterling approach to Jones if he doesn't sit down and shut up.
I want popcorn now.
Honestly, I kind of wish it was Dan Snyder stirring up all this foolishness instead. Then we might finally be able to get that little shitstain out of Washington and start building a real team again under better leadership.
Yeah, there's a stark difference between Snyder and Jones: Snyder is explicitly "how can I make money," whereas Jones' career as an owner has always been, "How can I make money, and how can I make the rest of you a shit-ton of money, too?" Rising tide lifts all boats and all that.
Jones is absolutely an opportunist tool and I detest anyone who attempts and / or succeeds extorting public money for their stadium, but he knows where the bodies are buried, so if he and the NFL go to war, it'll be delicious.
The Cowboys just got humbled in their own stadium. If there was ever any doubt as to who the current kings of the NFC East were, it's obliterated now.
Strong day for the mighty forces of the NFC. Saints with a championship-caliber comeback win over the Redskins. Eagles improve to 9-1 with an incredible win as mentioned. Vikings best the (similarly impressive) LA Rams at home. The NFC looks so deep, the playoffs should be incredible on their end.
Meanwhile in the AFC, looks like it's simply between the Pats and Steelers yet again, and let's face it, probably just the Patriots.

Yeah, my Beloved Rams came back down to Earth, which is not surprising.
We've definitely improved, but we're still a couple of players away from elite status. We still have games against the Eagles and Saints too.
Given the Rams won 4 games all year last season, everything from now on is gravy.
Although Seattle is going to struggle with both Chancellor and Sherman out for the year, so the NFC West may still be up for grabs.

Turned out to be anti-climactic. Pats figured out most of whatever was wrong to start the season, seem to be clicking just fine now. Raiders took a fairly unexpected big step backwards this year.
Just wanted to quote this again, as the Pats swept the tough stretch that I was supposed to be worried about.
More entertaining, Gillmore has seemed to figure it out (with injury time in the middle to get his shit straight, I guess), Bills have tumbled as well. Not sure if the Bills won a game after this quote, actually...The Steelers look like the one remaining 'threat' game on the radar, as that game is likely the #1 vs. #2 seed determination game at this point in the AFC. Dolphins imploded, Bills came back down to earth, and the J-E-T-S suck suck suck!
Whoever did the AFC East schedule this year sucks. In the last 6 games, Pats play the Dolphins 2x, Bills 2x, Steelers, and Jets. They usually spread out the division games more, this year they play 2 different teams each 2x in 3 weeks. Saves the film prep guy some work, I guess...
Yeah my poor Skins once again followed their same old formula of a strong first half with a soul crushing second half. That's honestly been their M.O. for nearly two decades now, pretty much since Snyder took over.
However, I'd rather be a Skins fan right now than a Broncos fan. At least Washington looked like they came to play but lost their steam. Denver acted like they gave up before the coin toss. Elway's "tough love" maneuver to call the team "soft" sadly kind-of backfired on him. I don't know if they just gave up out of spite or if it was because Elway really was right about them. Either way, they're more than done for now and some reckoning needs to occur at ALL levels in that franchise.
yep, time to blow up the Broncos, suck for a year, and rebuild. Which was exactly what the plan was when they sold out for Manning, and they got the ring, so can't fault the thought. But the bill has come due, and the transition didn't work out (Brock, either time). Can't see this one getting better without getting worse first.
The Broncos have fired their OC. All the pieces are in place now.
That's just the beginning. The team needs some broad-spectrum rebuilding. I do dislike the notion of having to fire Vance Joseph only one season in, though. Dan Snyder had a habit of doing that for years in Washington and I'm hoping Elway shows a little more restraint. At the very least, their recent performance should hopefully give them some good draft picks in the off-season, though.
With the expectations the Raiders had coming into the season, how do you come off a bye and turn in an effort like what the Raiders did yesterday? That is all on Del Rio and his staff. Porous defense, butterfingered receivers, the stuff that has plagued all season were on display. With the offensive line we have and quarterback, no team in the league should be able to hold the offense 8 points.
The Raiders became the first team ever to get it's first interception of the season in the NINTH game of the season!!! I don''t even understand that. In 8 games a quarterback without any pressure will accidently throw the ball to a defensive player. It's like our defense is "allergic" to the football. For that stat alone Ken Norton should be fired.
Then after the game, Del Rio complains about having to give up games in Oakland to play in other countries, like that would help. Some of this is on the players, who may have spent too much of the off season reading last season, about how great they played against a loser's schedule, I still think Del Rio, who I've never been that taken with, needs to go.

Patriots are the team to beat, at least until Brady has drained the blood of every horse in Europe, or Bellicheck gets bored and decides he is going to coach the Washington Generals.
I think Philly has designs on that notion.
