Could Enterprise be revived?

Apparently Trek on Netflix does very well- mainly TNG, natch, but DS9 and VOY are gaining new followers and appreciation also. If Netflix bought back Wet Hot Summer and Full House, it's not unthinkable (although admittedly, incredibly unlikely) that they could do a DS9 reunion movie. How cool would that be? Jake and Molly and Nog and New Dax (Jayden Smith) go searching for Sisko in the wormhole.

No. They brought back those shows because they were low-risk, high reward. Voyager, DS9, Enterprise, even TNG-- they are high risk, low reward. Best case scenario they have to spend a ton of money assembling a lot of talent and constructing massive, expensive sets, with tons of visual effects, and even under the most optimistic projections they would not garner huge viewership.

Yes, Trek is very popular on Netflix. That is why Netflix asked CBS if they could produce a new Trek show. What they didn't do is ask to reignite one of the older series'. If they thought that could work, they'd tried to do it.

And no, that would not be cool. No interest in seeing those characters again, and DS9 is in my opinion the best of 90s Trek (if not my favorite).

Netflix DOES seem interested in doing their own animation, lately. I could see anthology animated Trek, if they could keep the costs down. You'd be more likely to get casts back to do voice overs, Big Finish style. That might be the only way to ever see NX-01 fly again.

If they announced a TOS remake using the Kelvin cast, or TOS in the Kelvin Universe, I would be so excited.

In terms of look and feel I agree,

in terms of writing I'd facepalm.

I'd be kinda torn, hence "talkin crazy" But boy did JJ nail the look and feel ( except I miss the long beamed phasers )

However, in JJ Trek, the sci in the sci-fi took kind of a back seat, so the look was kinda superficial.

I'd love a nice, true, faithful attempt in the kelvin universe for a show that re-did TOS but putting the sci back into the fi

a boy can dream.

I'd watch, only if Archer quantum leaped into the future and took command of the Constellation.

Giving writers the width and breadth of tv allows deeper, more science-y storytelling. The limitations of movies require some streamlining and more action setpieces, which is why basically every Trek movie, with TMP as the major exception, are action-heavy romps. So in that sense, giving the KT folks a crack at tv would, imho, be a lot of fun.

They'd have to account for the aging of the actors, and wouldn't be able to pick up right where they left off.

And accounting for the aging of the actors and the time that's passed...I think we're beyond the point where the Enterprise was "put in mothballs".

Les Moonves is still in charge of CBS, I think. He was the one that didn't like ENTERPRISE to begin with, so no, it won't happen.

Scott Bakula already is fully committed to a successful CBS series in the NCIS franchise "NCIS: New Orleans" so he isn't going to leave that for an Enterprise revival.

For the millionth time: Moonves had no issue with ENT, or Star Trek/Sci-fi in general. He has issues with TV shows that are expensive to produce but do not make enough money in return to justify the cost. If ENT was a ratings powerhouse he would have loved it and never cancelled it. But it wasn't, and he did.

I wouldn't like Captain Frat Boy and a communications officer who keeps whining about her boyfriend problems on duty if it were a TV series any more than I like it in a series of bad movies.

Absolutely. STC is proof that TOS is still doable, and have it look and feel like TOS. And that's on a much lesser budget than the commercial studios have.

There's a lot of potential for an Enterprise era show on a budget. Life on an early Alpha Centauri colony, adventures of Earth cargo traders, or a show based on Columbia (or Intrepid, any early period ship). The sets used a lot of easy to reproduce parts like the industrial safety railing, that would not be THAT hard to put back together.
