When will the Constitution Class make an appearance?

I actually had a dream last night about this! In 43 years, I've never had a Trek dream (that I remember), but I thought my subconscious handled it pretty well, so bear with me.....

The Disco was in some sort of firefight (probably with Klingons), and the forward starboard section of the bridge hull had been blasted open, but a forcefield was in place. They were in trouble, but through that rip in the hull in the far-off distance you could see an incoming warp streak, that resolves into the very familiar front profile of a Constitution class. It was still at an extreme distance, so you could only just barely make it out. The Enterprise (probably Pike) comes over audio "This is the USS Enterprise, blah blah blah.......", and the Klingons run off without the E having to fire a shot. Lorca says "Thanks for the assist, Enterprise", and you can see again far off through the rip the Enterprise turning and heading off at warp.

I thought this works pretty well, since you can only just barely make out the shape of the Enterprise, and any details are lost, so no worries about matching or updating the ship too much. We also don't see Pike or the Enterprise bridge since it was just audio communication. Plus, without the E firing, they don't have to worry about changing or matching TOS effects. If they actually did it like this, I would be pretty satisfied.

Funny, I had a similar dream last night, only the details were very different. In the episode in my dream, Discovery is waiting for new orders or something, and Cadet Tilly is in Lorca's ready room handing him a PADD or some such device, when the proximity alarm goes off, and someone on the bridge says to Lorca through the communicator: "Sir, the Enterprise has just dropped out of warp." Lorca, assuming that Pike will be delivering the orders from Starfleet personally, gets super pissed and says, "Well isn't that just f***ing briliant!" and throws his drink across the room (apparently there is a huge rivalry between the Enterprise and Discovery, and Pike and Lorca actually despise one another). Then the bridge reports incoming Klingon birds of prey, and Lorca does something even more unexpected: he just stands there and lets the Enterprise handle them alone. We never see the Enterprise except for a schematic on a damage control monitor in Lorca's ready room (which looks remarkably unchanged from the TOS design) but what we also realize is something unsettling: Lorca is basically waiting for Pike to beg him to help with the Klingons. The Enterprise apparently takes quite a beating, and just before I woke up I heard the Discovery comms officer say to Lorca, "The Enterprise is hailing us. They say they are in desperate need of our assistance." Then Lorca just kind of smiles to himself, as if to say "I won".

Why the a different Connie. As I have stated, if it does not look no different from the remastered version it could appear.

When? Elephant in the room. Get it over with. Beginning of Season 2. Need a reason to renew all access.

But ST:TMP made it painfully clear that the old ship had existed, and that she had looked exactly like she did in TOS: they showed a picture of her.
I don't recall ever seeing a picture of the original Enterprise in TMP. I do recall seeing a graphic of the Enterprise included in Kirk's mission logs from "The Naked Time" that depicted the TMP version of the ship, however. TNG-R switched it back to the TOS version, so YMMV, but I'm far more inclined to treat it as a retcon. Beyond that, the only other time we see the TOS version of the ship (in a situation where it isn't clearly an error) is in 'Trials and Tribblations" where doing so is both unavoidable and also deliberate attempt at nostalgia porn. Future series doing 23rd century time travel episodes probably won't be able to get away with this kind of thing.

What they could do, is this. Show a constitution class in the mirror universe. See how the fans respond. If they get allot of flack for it, they can mention it's a mirror universe version. Wash hands, try again.

And that’s without even adding the various starship miniatures and wall charts of the various series/movies.

I'm pretty sure I've already said this, but in another similar thread:

Merchandising. Everyone who wants the classic Enterprise has a model or three. The 2009 Enterprise was the best seller of that movie's toy range by far.

That is why the Enterprise will look different on Discovery. So they can sell models, plaster it on calendars and art books and whatever else.

If they do decide to update it. Hopefully the bridge would look like this. Courtesy of Kelvington.

This is an interesting melding. Did you put it together yourself?

I'm kinda hoping the uniforms get changed next season to something closer to the TOS uniforms.

Its probably going to be the same overall shape as the original TOS Enterprise with the same detailing, textures and visual update as we saw on the Europa.

Still doubt it will have round nacelles though, especially as even the really old Shenzous were somewhat square/rectangular.

There will be calendars, posters and all manner of other merchandise and having the Enterprise or another of the Constitution class ships will make them even more money from the show.
