Discovery Renewed for Season 2

I wouldn't rule out a late 2018 start just yet. The sets are there, the main actors are cast. They could start filming around April for an October release of the first part of the season. Then do a longer Walking Dead-style break and come back in Spring 2019 for the second part.
I think they'd be wise not to put any dates on it until they have some certainty - the over-promise/under-deliver cycle was the main cause of the "Discovery in Crisis" narrative.

I would actually follow what Midnight's Edge said. They're the ones with their fingers on the pulse of what's going on with Star Trek. Had it wasn't for their cutting-edge reporting, we would have had no idea that the series would be replaced secretly by a Nick Meyer Trek series!

I can't wait to hear their screaming and ranting on the next video. It's why I also watch Alex Jones. Very mature folks!

I agree. To me, the earliest they probably would start filming would be mid-2018 (assuming the actors are all coordinated with schedules and scripts are at the ready to start the season) with the early 2019 airdate.

The problem with that is it takes them about 6 months to complete an episode from start to finish so that would be pushing it. I think Jan 2019 is about the earliest an with GOT probably march/april is more likely but who knows at this point.

Spring 2019 looks good. The original plan was January 2017, then it slipped to May. I think 2019 Q2 is as good as any guess at this stage.

All the other Trek series usually wrapped in March or April and then started shooting again in late spring/early summer.

Discovery wrapped shooting this month. Why can't they start shooting in January or February 2018, like they did with season 1?

Honestly, I can't get through maybe a few seconds or so of their videos. Between them with their off the mark reporting and Trekyards' smugness, I don't watch many Trek "fact" videos on YouTube.

Trekyards has actually chilled over the past year. They used to have a massive hate boner for Kelvinverse, and were pretty negative about Discovery. Stuart was also super anal about canon and "look" of everything. Lately though, he's been alot more lenient and seems to actually be enjoying Discovery and also really liked Beyond. Stuart is still a bit annoying to watch, but not insufferable like he used to be. I like Samuel because he's alot more chill.

Because there is a small but VERY vocal group of Trek fans who HATTEEEEE Discovery and shit on it at every opportunity. They also in the next breath praise The Orville for being REAL Star Trek because they are stuck in the past and blinded by nostalgia and pseudo-TNG aesthetics. I think some of them just spite-watch The Orville.

If Orville doesn't get renewed for Season 2 and Discovery does, they'll shit a brick.

I like Orville but that's almost worth it.

Give the actors a break?

That is one thing different with a streaming show. Previous Treks pretty much needed to air in Sep/Oct like clockwork each year. Here they have more flexibility.

Not saying this timeline is unreasonable or unlikely, but if I were a CBS exec, it would worry me. There little chance a lot of the people who signed up solely for DIS are gonna keep their All-Access subscription active for this long given the lack of other compelling content. And what they have in the pipeline doesn't sound like must see TV either.
