Multiple mirror episodes this season!

I got it! The captain of the ISS Discovery is...

wait for it...

RIPPER.

Yes in the mirror universe, the ripper commands the ship, using human brains as supercomputers.

also, Klingons are docile pets kept on leashes playing fetch, and the Tribbles are the warrior race, at war with the federation of water bears.

I can't imagine a crossover MU episode, so I hope they go the Ent route and have the MU episodes stand on their own. But I also think that doing an MU verse episode in the first season of DSC might be a bit too soon. I think I'd rather see them finish out this current arc and do a couple of Mirror episodes next season.

And speaking of Ent's MU episodes, I also hope DSC changes the opening credits and music the way Ent did. That was otherwordly cool.

Tardigrade dies mid-jump from duress. Discovery or individual crew members materialize in MU. There, I imagined it for you.
The incredibly high likelihood that this is how they'll land the ship in the Mirror Universe is why the rum is always gone. I'll need a hell of a lot more to get me through that episode.

You're being shortsighted.

remember the voyage home? Well instead of trying to find whales, they spend the episode trying to find a mutant Tardigrade to get back home!

ITS BRILLIANT!

I prefer the idea that they just add on two episodes, Enterprise-style, that explores mirror universe c. 2256, but doesn't affect the continuity of the rest of the series. But, if the USS Discovery does have to encounter the mirror universe, I'd prefer it to happen as a mini-arc, after this season's main story is done, and having them stuck in via spore drive shenanigans is a way to do it. It probably wouldn't effect continuity much, other than it being them encountering a parallel universe of some kind ten years before those other guys do it.

If they take the latter action, and no mirror universe trip was planned before the season extension, then this would imply to me that no cliffhanger was intended into Season 2. A big leap, admittedly (they could tag it on to the mirror universe eps, or the mirror universe eps could be placed somewhere else, with the crew just shaking it off), but one that makes me feel hopeful for a self-contained seasonal arc. Let Season 1 be about the Klingons, and Season 2 be about the (Romulans, Sheliak, evil Edo...)

No, Mirror Discovery is just as evil as any other mirror-ship, they're just chaffed under the leadership of peacenik Captain Lorca.
I actually like this idea. Empress Sato actually brought about a more-or-less *benevolent* Empire, which is now being stressed by the war with the Klingons causing most people's darker natures to rise to the surface - and Mirror Lorca is desperately trying to find a way to put an end to the war (which Mirror Georgiou started on purpose, for her own purposes, and Mirror Burnham mutinied to try to stop her) quickly, in order to preserve what civilization there is in the Empire before it's too late.
Why would the Mirror universe have a starship named Discovery?
As I pointed out before the show began, Discovery is also part of the process of a court case - and not always a friendly one. Anyone who has been through the deposition process probably feels like they went to a hostile universe for the day. And one of the other ships in the class is the Inquisition, for example. ;)

Not gonna happen. No one except fans want to see that. Shows are long-term arcs these days. No stand-alone episodes, particularly ones that are not related to the main series.

Could be the kind of thing used as a special feature, when the show is over they toss a couple what if episodes,

I know, a bit of a waste but it'd be interesting to see.

Also, if they filmed more episodes for season 2. 15 is "ok" but the way they are releasing it I think is silly,

9 then 6?

Arcs are cool, but it seems odd to have a trip to the mirror universe tie in to the Klingon war. Odd, but not impossible. I suggested that it may be an arc in and of itself, about two episodes long to account for the two episodes added to the season after they finished plotting the storyline. Like the first two episodes of the series, which are their own thing, and Episode 3 was a sort of second pilot. Maybe the sojourn to a parallel universe will be an epilogue to the season.

Or maybe the first two episodes were the two episodes added to the season, and the two (or more) episodes in the mirror universe were integral to the season from the get-go.
