My theory is that Earth and the Sol System is really quite insignificant to the rest of the Federation, and they let Earth pretend it's the capital to keep humans from whining on the Galaxy BBS.

So you're saying Earth is the George W. Bush to the rest of the Federation's Dick Cheney? This won't end well for humanity.

It's not you.

This show reminds me a little of Stargate Universe: the producers there clearly were trying to do something more ambitious than previous SG shows, something like NU BSG. Problem was, they were still just Stargate writers.

MST3K is on now -Phatom Planet!

As I've said in the past, it's an unfortunate truth that writers can only create characters who are exactly the same intelligence or dumber than they are.

This is part of why some of the best TV shows are based upon books. Authors tend to be smarter than the average screenwriter, and thus showrunners can start the project with a lot of the hardest work already figured out for them.

Maybe that's why 90% of Starfleet is human? Generally speaking, only humans are dumb enough to join, where everyone else is living it up in post-scarcity utopia?

You don't have to like it but it's not some half-assed network special with bad musical sequences and campy celebrity cameos that was produced simply to cash in on a movie's popularity.

That's actually one of the best descriptions I've seen of Enterprise. Swap movie for tv series and it fits perfectly.

The pacing feels very much like a "TV as a movie" kind of thing. What's forgotten is that each episode has to be good on a standalone basis. Everyone wants to be "Breaking Bad" but no one wants to put in the work. Or they just don't have the talent.

What celebrity cameos did Enterprise have? Off the top of my head, Voyager got the major ones (Sarah Silverman, Andy Dick, The Rock, etc).

I'm more convinced that Voq is supposed to be the albino from blood oath, who was named in some book as "Qagh" which means mistake. I mean, if they are already grabbing other obscure references from books...

He's a klingon that normally would have been "dashed against the rocks"(as a baby, because he was born so white) And Voq is about to become a pariah seeking vengeance against the "cool" klingon.

Season 2 is worse than Season 1 unfortunately. Probably the single worst season of Trek overall aside from TOS Season 3. But if you can make it though that, it picks up a lot.

As mediocre as Season 2 was it still had a few genuinely great episodes. "Carbon Creek," "Dead Stop" and "Cogenitor" stand out the most with "First Flight" being a good flashback episode that delivered some much-needed character development for both Archer and Trip.

I enjoyed the episode very much. Landry won't be missed. I'm glad they wrote in consequences for doing something so stupid.

Loved the battle simulations and the real one. It was good to see the doctor, at last. I really liked the look of medical.

Only negative thing is for me the Klingon scenes really drag. I was never a fan of Klingon stuff anyway, but these Klingons seem to talk even slower and have a hard time enunciating (they could have fixed the latter issue in post..I wish I they would.)

To quote Crow T Robot, these Klingons, "The eye creatures. Scabbing, inflexible, lethargic, mucus-expelling creatures having no spoken language and no particular powers with which to conquer. They were also unfortunate enough to have evolved with heavy-duty zippers running up their backs."

ok it's not entirely relevant but I keep hearing Crow in my head when they switch to a Klingon scene. Anyway 9/10

Season 2 had Carbon Creek, which I believe was nominated for a HUGO! It also had dead stop, regeneration, future tense...I have to go look now. Season 2 rocks

Edit: Minefield, Vanishing Point, First Flight, The expanse,

It had a Carradine brother and James Cromwell. That was about it. Oh, and it mentioned Conan O'Brien during a time travel episode but we never saw any other celebrities nor their names pop up in the series.

Genuine question Ed...And this goes out all haters...At what point do you give up on this show? Are you in it for the season? Six eps? 7? Ep 5 till the 1st add break?

I'm still hoping for the quality of the show to be elevated to a mediocre level. I'm also optimistic about the second season. Besides, it doesn't take much time to watch an episode. However, I admit, everything we've seen so far has not been up to even the lowest Trek standards.

Voyager also had a member of the Jordanian royal family (The current King, if i am not mistaken)
Ent had Seth McFarlane.

I did enjoy the look of the tardigrade, hence I gave it a 2 and not a 1. I've been a fan of extremophiles for 15 years now :)
