What games are you playing currently?

Just got Cuphead on the Xbox One, fantastic if you are a fan of old school animation. Never seen anything like it before in terms of gaming, hard as balls though. Also, I've logged in nearly three hundred hours on Overwatch on the same system, doesn't look like that'll be slowing down anytime soon, never had this much fun with video games before or since, not even with Team Fortress 2.

Beat Arkham Knight and the last of the arkham episodes dlc. AK actually has a glitch where if you beat all the side quests outside of collecting all the riddler trophies before the final boss fight you can't activate the ending to get even the under 100% ending. Since I did that and I refuse to collect over 200 riddler trophies, I got no ending so I just watched the 100% one on youtube. That was real BS. The Arkham Episode dlcs were a mixed bag. Harley, Red Hood and Batgirl were ok. Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman sucked. The season of infamy DLC was good, but it feels like content they cut out of the game to sell as DLC (although not quite as badly as Catwoman being locked on disc in Arkham City).

Still, overall it was a fun game. Way too much reliance on the Batmobile (and that really ruined the boos fights since basically every one is a batmobile fight), and parts of the story were stupid, but I still liked it. I put it under Arkham City and Arkham Asylum by a good margin, but I still liked it. It was definitely better then Arkham Origins, not that its hard to be better then that game.

Besides that I'm still playing Overwatch and Pokemon Silver. I'm thinking about what game I'll replace AK with, but I have a lot of choices and haven't made a decision yet.

If you like the Arkham games and are looking for something similar, try Shadow of Mordor, almost identical combat system, fantastic open world and arguably, the best LOTR game to date. Also a great time to finish it with Shadow of War about to come out soon too.

I actually got SoM. I played about 2 hours and got sick of it after the 3rd or 4th time an over powered boss orc interrupted a unrelated mission to kill me and then get even stronger. I'm just not into the difficulty and unfairness of that kind of thing. Remove the nemesis system and it might be a decent game, but I just can't play it as it is.

Still working on soft resetting for a shiny starter in Pokemon Silver and have been playing Pokemon Go, Fire Emblem Heroes and Pokemon Shuffle.

Yeah I can see that, for the first couple of hours, it can be absolutely brutal. It's got a really weird difficulty curve though, where after that you get a bunch of skills that make the game so easy, it's almost less fun due to the lack of challenge. Still, I never got tired of being Superman in Mordor so it worked for me, but to each his own.

Got some early birthday money, so I picked up a few games. Started Pokemon X on 3DS because I had the itch, and I'm enjoying it so far. It certainly gives you a lot of pokemon to catch early, although a lot aren't that useful (Bidoof and Zigzagoon? Really?). I chose Fennekin as my starter, and its pretty good so far.

I also got and installed Mass Effect Andromeda. I know it got mixed reviews, but I loved the original trilogy (minus the Mako in ME1 and the ending of ME3), so I'm still excited.

I also got Uncharted 4, but I won't play it until after I'm done with Andromeda. Also, like always, I'm still playing Overwatch every day.

Cool. It's a pretty good game. Not perfect but worth it.

Tell me if it really is as bad as it's made out to be after you've played the game a while, the original trilogy is my favorite series of games ever made, and I know that there have patches and updates in order to improve it but I don't know if it's enough yet. Was my most anticipated game in a long time, broke my heart to hear how it went down at release but I still have hope.

I'm only about an hour into ME:A (on its first mission) and its decent so far. It has a bit of a problem with cover, you can only enter it when the game decides to magnetize you to nearby cover, and the game HATES giving you any decent cover in combat encounters. If you don't have 12 enemies on your unprotected butt the game seems to think its failed its mission. There is also an issue trying to figure out where to go, the game doesn't make it easy and simple like ME 1-3. Still its early on, and I am enjoying it even if its pretty obvious even at this point that the developers aren't as good as the ME 1-3 team(s).

I am dreading MAKO 2.0. I LOATHED the Mako in ME1, it almost ruins the entire game. I doubt I'll like it even more when its been stripped of all offensive ability like the Nomad apparently is in this game. Still, I'm liking the story fairly well, some of the gameplay additions are nice (like scanning and the jump jet) and the combat is ok although not quite up to ME 2-3 level (no ability wheel and cover being wonky are its two issues).

On a different gaming topic, my brother got a Sega Genesis Classic plug and play consople today. Its officially licensed and made by a company called Atgames, although it cheats by saying it has 81 Genesis games when its really 40 genesis games and 40 games made by or wholly owned by the company. Still it was a decent price, and it can actually play Genesis cartridges (although I don't have any). Its also completely SD which looks...not great on an HD tv, but its got enough decent games, two included controllers and the ability to play cartridges so it should be fun to mess around with.

I've been checking out some of the games on my Super NES Mini.

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is still hard as crap

Super Mario Kart, which was one of the big multiplayer games me and my friends played in high school, controls so weird compared to Mario Kart 8. It's also strange that the courses are so short when used to the length of Mario Kart 64's and following games.

It is fine, if you manage your expectations.

Just don't expect the writing to be on par with the original trilogy, and do expect the open world design to be reminiscent of DA:I and you'll have a fine time. For most fans of the original trilogy, it's not a game you're going to replay over and over again though.

Played some Hue, Hustle Kings and Final Fantasy I on my Vita. Played Pokemon Shuffle, Fire Emblem Heroes and Pokemon Go as well.

I like Hue pretty well so far and Hustle Kings is decent on the Vita. I think I like it a bit better using a PS3 controller though.

I have a few bits and pieces on the go.

Back into Stellaris. Funny how an entire night can just disappear, eh?

Also working through Yakuza Kiwami. Such an underrated series

Just because I need a bigger backlog, I got Fallout 4 and Resident Evil Origins Collection on PS4 yesterday. It will be a bit before I get to FO4, I'll probably beat ME: Andromeda first, but I'm excited. RE: OC will be a fun "spooky" game for October (along with Amnesia which was one of the free PS Plus games this month). The RE remaster fixes one of my two big problems with the old RE games, the tank controls, and I can deal with my other issue (limited saving) since I can now actually control it. I'll probably mess around with it soon.

ME: Andromeda is pretty decent so far. The Nomad isn't great, but its better then the Mako so far. I'm liking some of the characters and the story is interesting. I'd say its kind of the Stargate: Atlantis to ME 1-3's Stargate SG-1. Inferior in basically every way, but still pretty good if you don't try to compare it to the far superior product. I am really, really disappointed at how much RPG stuff was stripped out. Not having an ability wheel, and not being able to control team mates abilities, makes the combat feel lobotomized. Its still decent, but its the first time in the ME series where I feel something was dumbed down way too much and takes a bit of the fun away from the game. There is also no reason to invest in multiple ability trees, since you can only use three abilities at once you might as well just focus on one tree (I'm sticking with my normal engineer style abilities).
