Bah! It's not Star Trek. It's Star Trek Cosplay and Fan fiction with extremely expensive special effects budgets. It's stories and content are horrendous, and it's message is divisive. I can't stand this new JJ Abrams Trek style verse.. I can't stand CBS streaming access, it's a crappy platform to market something like this show, tho given how messed up the series and writing are, and how Shallow and un-developed the characters are, I am really more interested in watching the Orville. Thank God for an Alternative! Star Trek Discovery as a show, is just overall depressing.. I Don't care what the critics say in support. They matter little to my opinion, as theirs has always been an opinion to which I disagree with. Star Wars TFA is a perfect example of hype and stupidity, anyone dissenting was labeled a sexist. Anyone who didn't like the Casting of Jodie Whittaker for the new Doctor Who was also labeled a sexist. So with Discovery, calling people who aren't fans sexist, or racist is a good sure way of shutting down the conversation and alienating other Trekkers who may give Discovery a chance, but by them getting name called and attacked, it is a sure bet they won't give it a chance, and thus the same is happening to Doctor Who and possibly Star Wars...
Sucks to be a dissenter and not part of the online and Critic Borg Collective thinking brigade... but I like to keep myself as a free thinking independent.. so I don't much care what people call me. The Show sucks, and not just for obvious aesthetic reasons or canonical reasoning.. but also, the writing and the stilted and wooden performances from all the actors. Discovery SUCKS, plain and simple in my opinion.. Give me Galaxy Quest, Orville, or the original movies, and DVDs any day. I'd prefer to spend my money on that, or the original Star Wars merchandise then this new crapfest of a Star Trek Wanna be..
