I haven't noticed one yet. It's not that the lead actress isn't good looking but she hasn't been presented in that way as previous female characters have been. It's still early though.

I'm not saying they need one but it's common for a Star Trek show to have at least one character like that. We'll see if they introduce one later on.

Why the fuck should it need one?
its called tv and movie making, every show or play or movie has a bit of eye-candy...be it movies like Twilight for the young women and girly soap opera 'shippers' or Sca-Jo' or Olivia Munn squeezed into some spandex costume for the guys....I'm not saying it should be center stage but having a bit of eye candy can make a show/movie and bit more pleasant and silly and fun...it is entertainment afterall....should a show always be politics, about lines, about battles and all these dark themes, eye candy if done correctly simply adds a breather lightens the load it can add sexy and romance and can make a dull film more flash and entertaining

Well, the red haired girls drives me crazy, so I put my five cents on Mary W, I only hope that she doesn't get shoot on the fifth episode :/

“The things I like should never change. I like how things always were and I don't want them to change.”

Amazing how we have this iconic show that became a symbol of hope for half a century, spoke of breaking down barriers and empowering women.

One thing that would improve it though would be a bimbo told to sit there wearing a short skirt for the teenage boy demographic

I'm taking that as a compliment.

You shouldn't

Have you ever tried using punctuation? It might help you fulfil your obvious world changing potential.

Only VOY and ENT had a regular character that served that purpose. That was the late nineties/early naught-ies mindset.

The other series only objectified guest characters of the week.

And enough real-world political squabbles already. I'm here to read about Star Trek.

Too late, 'Star Trek: Discovery' intentionally made its Klingon rallying cry similar to Trump's 'Make America Great Again' . http://businessinsider.com/star-trek-discovery-klingon-slogan-similar-to-trump-maga-2017-9

Reality is what it is.

And the reality is that people enjoy looking at attractive men/woman.
