    Just finished the Bears/Falcons.

Fun game! Bears had 4 shots from the 5 yard line but couldn't get it done.

    Let's go Rams!!!!

I don't know, but it looked to me like it wasn't about NE injuries, but more about the Chiefs maybe being the better team, at least for a night. Also might be the first indication of Brady hitting the wall, finally. We'll see.

That's not good news for me because the Chiefs are in the Raiders' division.

And speaking of the Silver and Black, nice win today over the Titans in Tenn. Hope this is the start of a very long journey this season.

The Texans will be going nowhere this season. I think we've got the worst o-line in the history of professional football.

What's the difference between one and the other? If you lose some key players (and their backups), you don't play as well, which makes the other team look a bit better, no? Seemed pretty obvious that the defense had no idea what was going on once Hightower went down, as the flood gates opened up and random new dudes weren't covering their assignments. Same deal with the offense once Brady realized he was missing Edleman, Mitchell, and Amendola. KC played really great, but NE also had some guys that looked lost, and looked like they threw in the towel a bit.

Congrats on joining the "Brady has hit the wall" club, but I wouldn't put much money on it. Outside of a couple early passes he overthrew, he looked fine, just wasn't in sync with the new guys yet. Remember, he was totally cooked and not good anymore a couple years ago when he played KC, and he's only won two Superbowls since that statement...

Not saying it won't come eventually, but didn't see anything that looked that unusual for him, or a downgrade in performance. Looked like frustration/mental problem, and seemed to check out a bit at the end and just try deep balls over and over. He'll be ok. Last 3 times Brady started out 0-1, he won the Superbowl.

Yes, when it's your team with the key injuries, right? But lets look at it a little more objectively. The Chiefs went into your building in a marquee regular season game and not only won, but dominated. That, I believe, makes your excuse re: injuries, look like just what it is, an excuse. The Chiefs were simply the better team that night and likely would have won even without NE "key injuries".

Scarily for me, it might also be an indication that the Chefs have moved up another level this season, and the Raiders couldn't beat them last season. Andy Reid is a very underrated coach.

Nice straw man. I never said "Brady has hit the wall". Although it kinda sound like despite your little disclaimer, you might actually believe it's never going to happen. At this point, it does appear that Brady intends to play until age (or injury) gets him, so one could logically make the statement that he "may have hit the wall" after every performance these days, good or bad. Not a matter of if, but when. Bottom line, don't get so itchy when you see it written.

    touchy much?

I didn't say the Chiefs weren't good, and Berry in particular had a hell of a game. That said, Pats just didn't look like they had gelled yet, and taking away a few pieces showed that Brady wasn't comfortable with the new guys yet. Seemed pretty clear on defense that once Hightower went out, there wasn't anyone holding them together and covering the mistakes, because some pretty obvious ones started happening.

Despite all that, Pats were leading in the 4th quarter, so sorry if I'm not panicking to your satisfaction yet. Obviously didn't feel great about how they played, but pretty confident that they'll improve. And nothing really looked like lack of ability, just lack of execution. Wasn't like Brady looked like the last year of Manning; statue with a noodle arm. They'll be fine. And even if THIS was the best they can do this year, by Sunday evening even that felt ok; there are SO MANY shitty teams out there. Even Thursday's Pats are probably top 8-10 in the league, no?

Your last thing is pedantic to the point of being ridiculous. Straw man? I said congrats on saying Brady has hit the wall, you say you said nothing like that. Since the BBS is a written medium, pretty easy to point to you saying "Also might be the first indication of Brady hitting the wall, finally" huge stretch on my part, I guess?

Of course Brady will get old and suck eventually, no avoiding that. (Speaking of strawmen!) I didn't see anything Thursday that indicated he was there, though. Or even entering it. Looked uncomfortable with the receivers, overthrew a few balls early, and honestly mentally checked out a bit late, but which part of that was decline? It's ok to just have a shitty game. What did you see that indicates decline?

    :)
That you didn't say the Chiefs were good isn't the issue. I didn't accuse you of saying the Chiefs weren't good. I pointed out that you ascribed the Chiefs' win to some NE "key injuries", rather than to the Chiefs just being the better team in that game. I've seen you do this before. I don't see why it's so hard to admit that NE just wasn't the best team in a particular game.
If this is as close as you can get to admitting that your team just got beat by a better team in it's home opener, I'll take it. If not, keep working on it.
Who said you should get panicky? It's just the first game, bro. :)
    Maybe.
    Yes, it is.

You remind me so much of myself some years ago when the Lakers were winning championships. I'd jump at the slightest whiff of "you guys ain't got it this year". I get it. But the difference between you and I is, I was aware of what I was doing back then. But then, I was a Lakers fan a lot longer than you've been a Pats' fan and I saw a lot more championships. You'll better understand what I mean when the Brady era finally ends.

BTW, do you ever listen to Bill Simmons podcasts? If you don't, I do recommend. He is a die hard Pats/Celts fan. I haven't listened to his most recent pod, but it was posted right after the Chiefs' game. I have little doubt that his pod is filled with rationalizations and excuses, so you might find it interesting :). Unlike so many Lakers fans, I find him very insightful, knowledgeble, and entertaining.

If you keep picking at the Patriots butthurt, it's never going to scab over properly ;)

It's like a red flag for you; you can't avoid it, and you HAVE to make it personal about me immediately. Literally THIS is the post you read off of that nonsense out of:
Which part was even slightly off base?

Game went poorly = check (despite being ahead in the 4th quarter. final score wasn't good, but it was closer than it looked. FELT much worse)

Had a couple key injuries (offense and defense both) = check (Hogan was the only WR Brady had experience with after Amendola went down (Edelman and Mitchell both gone week before this game). Pats' front 7 isn't special at the moment, so having Ninkovich retire and then Hightower go out hurt there for sure. Not a shock that the defense immediately started to suck wind when Hightower left, couple HUGE plays up the middle after that. 70 yard TD pass wide open down the middle for example, makes your team look bad, no?)

New guys didn't seem as prepared/knowledgeable about what to do next (and Brady wasn't on same page as them one way or the other = check (again with the WRs not on same page and Brady, and no frigging clue what a couple of the LBs thought they were doing later on)

Hard to recover during game, but can hopefully be improved on by next game = subjective I guess, but optimistic and not unreasonable?

Again, you hear Patriots and seem to turn into a cute little rage monster. Relax, dude, or scroll past me. At least try to be offended by what I actually say instead of reading a ton into it, assuming I said worse than that, and responding to whatever is going on on that end of the screen.

And yes, I'm a Boston sports fan, I'm familiar with Bill Simmons. Not much of a podcast fan, so don't get as much of him as when he was on ESPN page, but entertaining enough.

BTW, I don't NEED a ton of rationalizations and excuses, not very worried about one game either way. Always annoying to lose but didn't exactly crush their season yet. AFC East is a joke at the moments, Patriots are almost definitely going to be in the playoffs even if they never improve beyond exactly what I saw Thursday. League in general is pretty shitty right now, so even that shitty performance is probably top 8 or so. In the AFC, it's kinda the Pats, Steelers, Raiders, maybe the Chiefs if they can get that out of Alex Smith more often (by far a career game), who else? Some good stuff on the NFC side, but kinda quiet on this side. Guess I still trust Belichick to figure it out by December, he usually does. Worst case, they won 2 out of the last 3 years, so I'm not super angsty for a ring and a parade... ;)

If this is all you have, might as well go with it, right?

Chiefs were the better team that night. Say it in your mind and then out loud. It's really not that hard.

Maybe because you don't see a bunch of emojii's in my posts that that's an indication that I'm mad or upset. I'm really not, I just get tired of inserting emojiis, so going forward just imagine there's at least a smiley emojii after every one of my sentences.

Then how come...oh never mind. (smiley)

Where I'm getting frustrated with you is that NO SHIT the Chiefs were better that night. Didn't ever say a single thing to the contrary. Pats lost, they won, etc. You're reading a bunch into what I'm saying, making up shit past that, and responding to an imaginary conversation. Back up and read what I said again and see where I took anything away from the Chiefs, or said the Pats blew it and should have won. I said Pats looked like shit, didn't look like the new guys were meshing yet after a couple guys went out, hope they can sort it out for next week. Literally the entire post. And followed it up by saying Berry in particular had a hell of a game. The rest has been whatever your beef with me is, and some other imaginary conversation you're having. Plus apparently you were a Dbag about being a Lakers fan way back when, and are projecting onto me (your words)

You seem more bothered that I'm not suicidal because my favorite team lost a week 1 matchup. I mean, they won't go 19-0 now, I suppose, but kinda feel like they might still be in the hunt...

For fun, and to reinforce the point, try scrolling through the last couple years' NFL threads. If there's a post that mentions the Patriots at all, you're almost always right in there next, and it's quickly personal against me or whoever else said it. Is that everyone else's problem, or...?

Know you're anxious to throw dirt on their grave, but make sure to check for a pulse first. ;)

Maybe Brady is only 75-80% of the peak Brady he was, but QB play in the NFL is such shit lately that that would still make him top 5-8 anyway. Not sure how much longer he can hang in there, but happy for every minute of it. I'd put money that it's an injury that takes him out all at once rather than years of him sucking more and more until he's pathetic. Plus Belichick is pretty cold, he'd cut him or trade him to some moronic team that will give good draft picks up at that point

Ha, yep. As long as neither team takes a big injury hit, that ought to be a premier AFC matchup. No matter which way that one goes, the rematch of it could be on a snowy Foxboro night, which could trigger some PTSD in a few folks...

Did yall see my Texans tonight? Yeah, yeah, I know, we just barely beat another really bad team. But we may really have something in Watson.

Glad our defense showed up and the Bengals offense sucked the same night. LOL

Bengals looked awful last night. Sorry, gblews, Texans were the better team last night. Forgot we weren't allowed to comment on the other team, and can only respond with praise for the winner, and even then in the acceptable terms, and must do it 3 times before you accept it. Texans were great. Texans were like football gods on Thursday, clearly the best. We good? :guffaw:

I never understand how Marvin Lewis keeps his job, even in a league with majority of terrible coaches. He's really next-level bad a lot of the time, and uninspired in his best moments. Can you really look at him and think anything other than 'replacement-level coach'? Wouldn't almost any offensive or defensive coordinator on another team do a better job at this point?

Anyway, yeah, Watson looked interesting. Will see if he can keep doing it, but definitely showed some promise yesterday. It's weird how the Texans went from a top contender to, uh, whatever this year's team is, this quickly, but maybe Watson can spark the offense back up so they can hang with their defense? He looked pretty good, even with decent pressure and taking a few hits.

Whew! The Bears scored a touchdown late to avoid the 29-0 shutout at the hands of the Buc-O's.

A shitty team top to bottom.
