Yeah, Precious couldn't come up with a plan this complex--not on his own, anyway. He's easily distracted. :techman:
Peters: I'm going to start fundraising for this great Star Trek fan fil----- Oooooooooo money! Huh, fan what? Oh, right I'm going to make a fan film, and it'll be amazing. Keep giving me money!"

It says in the Axamonitor article that Peters completed his move to Georgia in August; I think you meant April unless I really am unable to comprehend time anymore, lol

So Alec can't do a 30 minute fan film for years to come (read "ever") because he is "hampered" even with unlimited resolicitation rights to use his own donor list of people who gave him 1.6 million. "Hampered" by the court case blocking him from using crowdsourcing again.

and paraphrased, "The failure of Axanar in the last telling is CBS/Paramount's fault for choking Axanar's ability to start over after suing the project into the ground". Riiiight.

The real hampering here is that none of those people from before will give Alec any more money.:rofl::techman:

No, strike that, :scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl::scream::rofl:

Next step, sell donor list.

Overall I don't imagine Terry would release donor emails and names. Donors are innocents in all this more than anyone involved.

But lists of donors to kickstarter probably have a market, if not a squeaky clean one.
I have no doubt spammers would love a list like that.

Terry has stated he would scrub personal details from the donor lists when he posts them. He may leave names and amounts but will probably remove emails and addresses.

Wouldn't there be laws to protect against things like that?

Only if he hacked the data, which he didn't. It was on his cloud drive from when he was with the production. It may violate U.K. or EU data protection laws publishing it though, but only if personal info is there.

The Indiegogo campaign, such as it was, concluded in April. The move out of the sets and office from the Valencia, Calif., warehouse, and trucked to Georgia, happened in May. Peters himself did not move to Georgia until August.

So was this stuff they were selling at the table supposedly stuff that they bought themselves and were now reselling? I'm sorry but I can't help but wonder if this was all set up by Peters. Would they be able to get away with selling the merchandise (for Alec Peters) and then "donating" the money to Axanar?

All I can say is that all of this fan film creation was one heck of a lot of fun with a sense of accomplishment until one idiot showed up and attempted to soak hundreds of thousands of dollars from it.

Not that I was well versed in the rights and wrongs of fan creation at the time but when Alec clued me in on his goals, I simply asked why do it in the Star Trek Universe. Alec returned some double speak and that was that. Working around Randy I knew the basic Do's and don'ts, just not the exact reasons behind them.
I'm an Industrial engineer so creative thinking ends where limits begin, thanks to the LFIM we now have defined limits on creation.

All valid questions rendered moot today by the con shutting down the table. See the update on AxaMonitor.

I was just thinking that this latest twist was in the hands of the convention runners, whether they would tolerate it in the long run.

Will be interesting to hear their thoughts and also the spin cycle version. Will Axanar have burned enough bridges that even cons won't let them show up?

I can see Axanar playing victim here. But as a trader (or at least, loyal husband of one :p) I'd be absolutely fucking furious. We're in a different country, but wherever we are, we pay for our spot. And we pay good money for it. Someone going for a freebie then trading from it against the rules (and in spite of those who've paid for the privilege) should be shown the door immediately.
