Preacher - AMC TV Show - Discussion Thread

Yeah, The Magicians is really bad at editing out the swearing.
I've been surprised with Starr, I like that he's not just a one-dimensional "Destroy them!" villain. I think someone called it but I was also surprised that Jesse's search has led him back to DOG.
Ha, I didn't even put together the whole DOG/GOD thing, lol.
I wonder, if they do find God if they'll go for a big name actor to play Him, or at least as big a name as they can afford?

Thirded.
Preacher has reached a pretty big milestone for these kinds of shows, One Million Moms is trying to get it canceled. Apparently they were not amused by the opening Jesus sex scene, and his mentally handicapped decedent.

Groups like that are always trying to get more edgy shows canceled. It's actually a complement on how good your show is. If super conservative Christians aren't mad at you it means your show is most likely playing it safe and isn't very good. Even a family oriented show like TNG got those complaints from stuff like Troi's foot massage of Devonai Rai. For some people nothing short of "7th heaven" level of entertainment is acceptable. Not sure why people can't accept that not every show is for every audience. It's okay to bitch about it on the internet because I love to make fun of stuff like Kirk Cameron movies but I don't want to go and try and stop them from being made.

If they haven't figured out after two seasons that this show isn't for them and they're going to find it offensive, that's on them.

I like this quote from their statement:
For starters, you can be assured with a TV-MA rating, it is not appropriate for television
Maybe that should be a sign to turn the channel, morons. I'm glad we have more than three channels and not under the purview of the FCC so these groups don't have the pull and sway they once did.

EDIT: In fact, now that I think about it, I forget cuz I'd never use it but I'm pretty sure every TV must allow blocking of programs marked TV-MA ("V-chip") so they have to go out of their way to encounter this programming.

Yeah, they do.
I'm definitely in the if you don't like it, don't watch it camp. There's plenty of stuff out there that I don't like, but I'm not about to go around demanding that they be cancelled.
I'm just glad that so far they don't actually seem to be able to have much of an impact on the shows.

I wouldn't be surprised if the people who made Preacher were proud of this.

I read somewhere that even though they are "One Million Moms" there's actually only a few thousand members of the group.

I'm kind of on the fence about continuing to watch, but it's like a lavishly produced train wreck I can't seem to turn away from. But that's not saying it's up there with my favorite shows, because it's not. Uniqueness is hard to come by nowadays, maybe that's one reason I continue tuning in, the repugnant but humping and mentally diminished Jesus descendant notwithstanding.

So much for my idea of destroying the Saint's weapons by having a rig aim them at each other and firing.

Can't do anything with the guns--but that saber would be a great, unbreakable vertical stabilizer core

, and his mentally handicapped decedent.

Turning water into--oh no--not on the floor again Humperdoo

Now for why my guardian angel is a drunk.

Just one little question what did the muppets do to get their attention?
I think it was simply because the new show was vaguely adult.

So much for my idea of destroying the Saint's weapons by having a rig aim them at each other and firing.

Leaving them encased in a cooled down block of that molten metal might have made them a bit of a challenge to access. Do that and then get a boat and throw them in the ocean.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes the Saint to retrieve them assuming we're supposed to ignore the silly way they were packaged and they actually make it to Brazil.

I forgot about what they did with his weapons, but now that you guys mention them, I am a bit surprised they didn't come into play last night.
It was nice to get to see a bit more of The Saint's backstory.
The way they ended up getting rid of him felt a bit random, but with the way things were going it didn't look like there was much that could have stopped him.
I liked how they had Eugene turning the stuff in Hell around.
It will definitely be interesting to see where next week's episode goes after last night's ending.

Shark jumping Hitler gonna Hitler! Nah, Tulip will be resurrected of course. Not sure if I'm gonna be back, not out of hate or even dislike, but really, nothing is actually happening, and apart from Tulip, I find the acting to be good, not great.

Accents do sometimes change a lot over time, given your daily exposure, I know a couple from Louisiana who sound extremely Canadian (to me at least) after just nine years living in Toronto. I don't know Jesse's backstory though, so...

That was an interesting finale.
I wonder what will happen with Hitler being back out in the world.
Tulip probably won't be staying dead.
Cassidy killing Denis was unexpected.
So did Jesse leaving to go help Tulip and Cassidy put an end to him becoming the new messiah?
