Preacher - AMC TV Show - Discussion Thread

Still interested - it's sitting on my DVR right now. Very much looking forward to this - looks like Herr Starr will finally be featured prominently.

Watching it, and I enjoy the madness but there doesn't always seem to be a method behind it so it feels a bit shallow or surface-level sometimes.

I thought they did a good job with the grindhouse beginning, I see a lot of things try to achieve that look that aren't always very successful at it. I'm not quite sure *why* they're doing it. The spontaneous random fuckery that Jesse seems to indulge in now doesn't feel quite natural yet. I know last season the whole town blew up and God disappeared but I didn't get the feeling of Jesse getting snapped to this current state. Maybe if I watched the last couple of episodes from last season but it feels out of character at the moment.

I'm still watching, and I thought the premiere was good. The whole opening sequence was definitely the best part, although the random jump to the old scratchy effect was a bit strange. I understand what the were going for, but the way they just jumped to it, and then back to normal was really jarring. I think it might have at least worked a bit better if they had some kind of a transition effect to go along with it.
The Saint of Killers is definitely one hell of a creepy villain.
As a big 24 fan I got a kick out of seeing Glenn Morshower.

Great premiere, loved the car chase! For some reason I had forgotten just how bloody this show gets a times a bunch of 'splodin heads quickly reminded me, can't wait to see where this road trip into madness is headed...

I have to admit, I loved Tulip's reaction when she tried to pay for the stuff at the gas station and the guy just ignored her. I have to admit, I was a bit surprised she even bothered trying to pay for it at all.

No Amazon Prime any more. Only legal way to watch the show over until the Blu Rays come out.

Hope it finds more consistency and begins the main story.

Hugo - enjoy without me :(

The show is an Amazon Prime exclusive over here in the UK. No one else has the rights.

Hugo - not up for £70 upfront for Preacher and the occasional other show

Did the manager of She She's say how she recognized God? God likes jazz...ok. It is an acquired taste.

Turns out I only saw half of the premiere, so I watched all of it and the second episode today. This season is definitely off to a much better start than last season.
I was pretty surprised we already had a face to face between Jessie and The Saint of Killers, and that they learned so much about him. I was expecting a lot more of a slow burn with all of that.
Fiore using his angel resurrection power to do a magic show was fun. I was disappointed they killed him off, but I figured once they revealed how his partner died that that was what was going to happen.
I was surprised Jessie, Tulip and Cassidy didn't know about Annville blowing up, I thought they saw the explosion as they left town at the end of the finale.

The two premiere episodes were pretty fun, even if they didn't follow the comics at all. I'm eagerly awaiting the introduction of Herr Starr who was seen in the "this season on Preacher."

I've been waiting for Starr's arrival since last season, which I guess technically he did - briefly, in that movie theater.

Really wondering if they're going to follow the "bloodline" side-story, and how they're going to pull it off.

Any word on the casting calls as to who the "AllFather" is going to be?

The angel finding a way to fill his time with a magic act and the audience prepared as if for a Gallagher show was fun. But I don't know if I can stay invested in this show for long unless something more interesting happens. Driving around ahead of the Saint of Killers is already getting tiresome. The 3 main cast members are good but not enough on their own to keep me watching. I think I'm just getting tired of tv in general, maybe. .

I think they're going to be staying in NOLA for the rest of the season, so I'm pretty sure they will be more to it than just what we got in just these couple episodes.

That was a weird episode.

So......this will be the second time Noah Taylor plays Hitler. I wonder what that's like for an actor. "Yay, I cast! As...Hitler. Again."

I do like Cassidy and Denis and am not entirely sure Denis actually knows who Cassidy is (or at least they don't share an actual friendship). I think Cassidy's just imposed himself on some poor unsuspecting sod* who doesn't speak English.

* assuming I'm using that correctly, it just sounded right at the moment
