He'd be Aegon VI, not Aegon VIII. Of course, that's assuming he'd pursue his claim to the Iron Throne. (I don't think he would.) And that's assuming he'd lay aside the name he's always known for a new one. (Doubtful.)

Maybe he would be Aegon VII if baby Aegon outlived Rhaegar for a few days, and Aerys for a short time.
Of course, "he" might reappear next season if some deception or confusion is required. However, I think that unlikely.
Yes, she insisted on the promise and Ned agreed because they knew what happened to his other children.
I don't think Jon's naming was Rhaegar's decision, Lyanna probably chose the name herself.
It does line up, the reason Ned went south to the Tower of Joy alone was because he was disgusted by what happened at King's Landing and had a falling out with Robert.
Winterfell, he said he'd pledged to ride North and that's what he's going to do.
Well Brienne had to be out of Winterfell so that Littelfinger wouldn't get suspicious when she doesn't step in between the sisters as they "fight" each other. Also, Sansa probably deemed her too honorable to bring her in on the scheme.
Jamie and Bran should have an interesting reunion.

Except Jaime used his left hand. 
That was amazing. Just so many wonderful character moments, developments, revelations, culminating in that final scene.
I had a knot in my stomach watching the armistice negotiations- I was sure there would be some betrayal and murder. I must admit, Cersei and Euron had me fooled. I did enjoy Tyrion and Theon putting Euron in his place.
Jon is his fath--uncle's pigheadedly honourable and unpolitical so--nephew but given what Cersei was planning, it didn't make much difference.
Cleganebowl is totally on. I wondered did the Hound deliberately let the walker run at Cersei or was that accidental?
The respective showdowns between Cersei and her brothers were also almost unbearably tense and I was actually even more worried for Jamie than Tyrion. I did think that she would let Gregor kill him for a split-second. Will Bronn follow Jamie and Tyrion or will he stay where the money is? And will we see Daario among the foreign mercenaries or is he content where we last saw him?
The scene between Jon and Theon was nicely handled and beautifully acted, especially by Alfie Allen but Theon's Steve Rogers/Karate Kid scene was a bit stupid. And we finally know that Ramsay chopped off his balls as well as his cock. Still, you'd think the wound/amputation site would be pretty vulnerable to a kneeing and it's odd that Euron knew Theon had been castrated but his shipmate didn't.
Also wondered if Sansa was actually going to execute or at least imprison Arya. I was hoping it would play out as it did but feared the worst. Could've cheered when she addressed Baelish. Although I've liked Aiden Gillen in The Wire, Love/Hate & other shows, I've never found him entirely convincing as Littlefinger (the wandering accent and hammy delivery always annoyed me) but he played a pleading Lord Baelish perfectly. I loved his face when Bran recited his line to Ned. Still, I'm surprised that Lord Royce didn't recollect that Sansa covered for him over the murder of Lady Arryn (though maybe he didn't care, now that he knew she murdered her husband, their Lord).
I thought Sansa should've killed him though, given Ned's line about he who passes sentence also swinging the sword. That would also have been a bit less predictable than Arya (though it was fitting that she used that knife).
I still want to know where Robyn Arryn is!
Also thought that was Harry Lloyd as Rhaegar but I guess they quite properly just went for a lookalike. Could've been more imposing though.
I thought I read somewhere that the HBO website had announced that Jon's real name was Jahernys? Aegon does seem odd, given that Rhaegar's son to Ellia was so called. However, it ties in with the original conqueror and Aemon's brother, aka Egg of Dunk & Egg, who was a good king who helped the smallfolk so it quite suits him.

I have rewatched the whole show earlier this year and yet there are so, sooo many of these little moments like that I can't remember for the life of me. When it's all over and done I'll take a week off (from life) and watch it all in one huge binge... I might survive.
A point of clarification: I'm referring to Jon as Aegon the Eighth because he's the 8th character of direct and pure Targaryen blood in the series - across both the books and the TV show - to bear that name regardless of monarchal line of succession.
I do realize, though, that he'd only be the 6th Aegon in Westerosi history to officially sit on the Iron Throne were he to claim both the crown and his birth name, and if that happens, I'll refer to him as Aegon VI Targaryen just as the show would. * I thought Jamie was going to be stabbed in the back when he was walking away, I screamed NOOOOO at the telly. Jamie's redemption storyline has been amazing over the 7 seasons.
* I was so satisfied to see Sansa/Arya out play the best player of the game. When they listed his actions, it seems everything mostly bar the Night King can be traced back to Little Finger starting the war of the 7 Kingdoms. A friend of mine believes Arya will use the face of Little Finger to get close and murder Cersei.
* Jon has a new name and will soon need a therapist after shagging his Aunt

* They clearly didn't need to time compress the previous episode because the Night King was waiting for a dragon all along, he's been slow for 7 years because he's been waiting for the pieces to fall in the right place and now THEY ARE HERE

You know how the Wall is sort of stepped-up on the back end near Eastwatch, with a series of ledges instead of being pure vertical? Thormund and Baric didn't have time to get all the way to the bottom, but they did jump off on one of those ledges, and that's where they were standing when they saw the scene of the Wall coming down in front of them.
A Song of Fire & Ice could refer to their kid who will inherite the throne after they both fall in saving the land of the living from the dead. Tyrion would make an excellent steward to get things going until the kid came of age and ruled over a peaceful Westeros
