Four actually making it through the episode was a surprise, it will be interesting to see where they go with him now.
I never expected them to actually kill him off. If he'd stayed the emperor and the big bad, then I could've seen his storyline ending in a fight to the death with the rest of the main cast, though probably not until the series finale. But once he was deposed and on the run, I knew it would be the beginning of an arc leading him back to the crew, because he no longer posed a meaningful threat. They wouldn't have ended his story in such an anticlimactic way, defeated by a coup rather than by the protagonists.
Plus I'm still somewhat convinced that the main reason they killed One and Devin off was because the actors were less than impressive. Alex Mallari, Jr. is a strong enough actor that they wouldn't have a motive to get rid of him.
I can't remember, did Teku make it out of the battle?
He wasn't explicitly killed off, so he'll probably come out alive. It doesn't seem like they're done with his storyline yet, although they do have a tendency to abandon things abruptly. In any case, I really like Andrew Moodie in the role, so I hope he returns.
It was fun seeing Wexler again, I hope he sticks around.
The actor is kind of entertaining, but it's hard for me to see Wexler as a "fun" character considering that his original incarnation was portrayed as a borderline sexual predator, harassing Two and threatening Five with rape. I suppose the writers could claim that this alternate version is less of a sadistic creep, but that would be inconsistent with how the alternate universe was portrayed, as essentially identical except for events unfolding slightly differently.
I really doubt that Six is dead since we didn't actually see him on the ship when the bomb went off.
Well, we did -- as I recall, we cut from a shot of Six inside the
Marauder to an exterior shot of the
Marauder being engulfed in the blink drive detonation. However, the detonation was not merely an explosion, but a spherical burst of exotic energy that turned out to be an interdimensional rift. Therefore, it's quite possible that Six and the
Marauder were sucked through the rift when it formed.
Hmm, so Two has been possessed since the episode that introduced the aliens? Were there any obvious gaps where we didn't see her where it could have happened.
Yes, just minutes earlier when she was taken to be interrogated by the female FerrousCorp officer whose own eyes went black, showing that she was one of the simulant infiltrators established a few episodes ago. We cut from there to Wexler rescuing Three and Six, and no doubt Two was being taken over while that was going on.
Hopefully her possession won't get dragged out forever. A few episodes be OK, but I'd prefer it not drag on through the whole season, or even half season.
It took them only a couple of minutes to "exorcise" Three last season, though it might be harder this time since Two was made to be a host for the aliens.
I'm curious to see exactly how the conflict with the aliens will play out since some of them appear to have infiltrated the corporations.
It feels sort of been-there-done-that to me, considering that the show's creators are veterans of
Stargate, a series in which the villains were alien parasites that possessed human bodies. Oh, and there's also the show immediately before it,
Killjoys, in which the whole series arc is about the heroes battling alien parasites that possess human bodies and that have infiltrated the society's major institutions. And how many other alien possession/infiltration stories have we seen in SFTV?
War of the Worlds: The Series, TNG: "Conspiracy,"
Dark Skies (apparently), the Drakh Keepers in
Babylon 5, maybe a few
Doctor Who stories here and there, etc.
