Admittedly I prefer harder science fiction. But the fiction portion isn't that big of a problem, it's the continuity. Having a story elements that (plot, characters, aesthetic) that make sense within the larger framework is important to me.

These idiots think that the only 'real' Star Trek is fan shows and movies, in particular the infamous Axanar.
They blame CBS for having derailed fan productions when they should be blaming Alec Peters for not making the movie he said he was going to make and just scam people for money instead. Of course, it goes without saying that these people are pathetic, and make most Trekfans look bad in their obduracy.

Oh God no!! Please no!! If all those fans who have all these awesome ideas about 'real'Trek in all the Discovery threads would get their way, Star Trek would be unwatchable.
I'm sure they can always make something really bad, but I don't think DSC is going to be bad. I actually put VOY at the bottom of the previous shows. I think they wasted a lot of potential with that show.People are twisting themselves in to pretzels to prove that ST: Disc isn't Star Trek. SADI don't have much confidence in this series but nothing can be as bad as Enterprise.
