USA distribution -CBS All Access discussion

Very cool thanks for the info on The Good Fight new episode availability on CBSAA.
If DSC follows the same model I guess hardcore Trek fans will watch in October after midnight on Saturday late nights ! And the next group will watch on Sunday mornings.
I guess this forum's weekly thread of new episode discussion will start at 2AM E.S.T.

I think CBS will be watching all the metrics to see how many fans in the USA actually start streaming DSC the hour it is posted as available and how many people watch in the afternoon and how many people watch Sunday evenings as well as Sunday evenings AFTER NFL football 425PM starting game.
The thread of piracy discussion will become active that 2nd week after the premiere on CBS. Yes a legitimate thread the business effect of piracy discussion as I had in Future of Trek but probably a new one in this subforum but as to not break the rules of TrekBBS
No promoting piracy, or promoting adblockers.
A discussion around how CBSAA and Netflix is affected by piracy business-wise and promotion from on a website that carries piracy news only.

It sounds like you already are a subscriber to CBSAA. Can you tell us what time zone you are in and what time "The Good Fight" was made available each week?

I do and honestly I didn't keep close watch on specific time it showed up since I was asleep but I do know when I got up sunday morning it was there so I'd speculate probably ether midnigth eastern or midnight pacific when it actually hit. It was always there on Sunday morning through.

.

Good point. While I enjoyed good fight wasn't important enough to stay up will 3am or something to watch it as soon as it hits but Trek will likely be different so you'll have people catching it at very different times like the old syndicated days of TNG and DS9.

More subscription competition for original programming from another network AMC via subscription
AMC Premiere will cost an additional $4.99, on top of an Xfinity cable subscription. The service is available through Xfinity set-top boxes, the Xfinity Stream website, and its corresponding mobile app. Premiere will also work on the AMC apps and AMC website in “the coming months.”

The service sounds similar to HBO Go, the online version of HBO that includes content like trailers, movies, full episodes of HBO’s TV shows, interviews, and broadcasts airing simultaneously with their TV counterparts
.
The rub is AMC Premiere still requires you to pay for a cable subscription.

AMC even hinted there might be some original content for the service.
original shows?

Comcast and AMC just announced AMC Premiere, an ad-free, simultaneous broadcast streaming service for Xfinity TV customers.
ad-free. Not 2 price tiers. I wonder on the mobile app if it will be ad-free. $1 less than CBS All Access.

The service soft-launches today with additional features to come.
Downloads? HD downloads to view on mobile via the app? 5.1 Dolby Digital?

FWIW, I received an e-mail message a few days ago that you can now subscribe to CBS All Access for a year. One year with commercials for $60, and $100 without commercials.

^ What happens if you try to cancel before the year is up?

They send Russell Crowe to explain some things to you.

For season one the first chapter only runs until November 5, 2017 the second chapter of season one starts in January 2018. I wonder if there is a short hiatus in production and they go right into production of season two and season two starts airing late Summer 2018 in which a year-long subscription is worth it as who is to say CBS All Access does not break season two into further spaced apart 2 parts? Put it this way in a 12 month calendar year you may get part of 2 separate seasons. More to keep people subscribing....

Just realized that there's a CBS app under Hulu and it has old Star Trek. Will they have STD on it as well? Then there's no need for cbs all access

I wonder if after premiere...the 'aired' episodes will be on iTunes for purchase...or if they EVER will be...

Oh, they will be.

DSC might not make it to iTunes right away, but it's obvious it eventually will. All other Trek series have.

Besides, there's just too much money to be made by Apple from people like me who want to actually KEEP the episodes, not rent them.

Sorry, no saving gold pressed latinum for you. ;) The CBS tile in the network section on Hulu, identifies the rerun package of shows (which includes the old Treks) CBS sells to them. It is not an add on for the CBS All Access service. :)
