That's funny. I was at the gas station the other day and paid by card. I thought I heard the machine beep and pulled the card out. I had to start over.Where's Michael Scott when you need him?
Theoretically, yes. However, there is an argument that maybe the split came sooner, with PrimeKirk having been born in Iowa and NuKirk being born on the Kelvin. Some believe that something happened before Kirk's birth to change where he was actually born.Isn't everything before the arrival of Nero the same in both timelines?

That's what Kutzman and Orci claimed after ST'09 released and I argued for years. But when Pegg and Jung took over writing for Beyond, Pegg claimed the timelines were separate from the big bang onward, while justifying Kelvin-Sulu being gay when Sulu-Prime wasn't.Isn't everything before the arrival of Nero the same in both timelines?
To match the scale of the rest of the JJ-Prise.Here's one:
Why is it so...big?

The new Star Trek Encyclopedia has the following to say:
![]()
I'm convinced the "...caused other differences in the timeline, both in the future and before the triggering event" is future-proofing ongoing Kelvin universe movies and Star Trek: Discovery, which are made by separate production companies and written by different writing teams and thus are bound to come up with contradictory 23rd century Trek backstory which can't be excused by a 2233.04 divergence date.
This way, the DSC people don't have to worry about squeezing the USS Franklin NX-325 into the world of Enterprise NX-01 and the Kelvin people don't need to worry about Klingon Sarcophagus ships, Mike Burnham's backstory with Sarek, or how the Captain Lorca's USS Discovery fits into and around their version of Star Trek.
But shouldn't the Prime Enterprise-E be in Montana in 2063 in both timelines now? Its too messy to say that Nero's Intrusion changed the common past, I really don't like that Pegg stated that.
^ Trials and Tribble-ations wasn't a closed loop, because we saw a version of those events where the DS9 crew wasn't there. FC, on the other hand, probably was. You can't prove it wasn't, anyway.

He wasn't born on the Kelvin, he was born on the shuttle.
Which was called Iowa.![]()
