New 2017 titles and blurbs - DTI, McCormack DS9, and more!

I've read Disavowed, but then go to the next book with Sacraments and suddenly we're a month or two earlier - so very confused.

It isn't too bad with the main DS9 line. Sacraments of Fire is set both before and after The Missing and Lust's Latinum Lost (and Found), Ascendance follows on that and ends in January 2386, next in publication order is the out-of-place Rules of Accusation, then Force and Motion, which is all over the timeline but ends in January and then fianlly The Long Mirage (Does anyone know if it is set only in January)?

^ Most of The Long Mirage takes place over a few days in January, immediately following the end of Ascendance. I believe the last part of the epilogue is set about a month after the rest of the book.

Thanks, I was wondering about that.

The one other kind of odd thing with the DS9 books is that we seem to have different authors all kind doing their own independent stories at the same time. I haven't read anything past The Fall, but I remember some people being annoyed when The Missing didn't deal with any of the stuff DRGIII set up in his previous book. Then we also got the Quark books, the Bashir books, which don't even involve the station or anyone on it as far as I know, and I believe Force & Motion was also off on it's own, unrelated to anything going on on the station. It sounds like Enigma Tales is pretty much just going to be a follow up to The Missing and possibly The Crimson Shadow.

That's I was saying, yes. I don't necessarily need a big team up where all the old gang get back together for one more adventure - we've had that ad infinitum with the TOS crew, and it gets a bit unlikely after a while. But some sense that these stories are at least taking place in the same continuity, which doesn't really feel like the case at the moment. Everyone can still have their focus stories, but I want them to feel like they are at least connected in some sense, whereas right now they feel scattered and random.

One of the things I keep remembering is that up through the last DRG3 book before "Force & Motion" is that I kept forgetting O'Brien was back on the station, and it didn't help that it seemed like in every new-station novel, his only appearance was popping up in a staff meeting near the end of the book with a quick, "And Miles was there, too." There are a lot of characters who just straight-up aren't incorporated into any given DS9 novel recently. At least on the TV show, you'd usually get at least one scene in an episode for everybody in the main cast, since they were being paid to be in it anyway. Just little check-ins or micro-subplots with people we know are there but haven't had much to do, like Tenmi and O'Brien and whoever the doctor is now.

And Phillipa too, who was major back in the relaunch, she's just 'there' too. Yes, there isn't really a strong sense of togetherness now, just cohabitation. More like a real city in space, where neighbourhoods are differentiated, or a larger organisation where separate departments rarely interact. But then that is more accurate, if more frustrating for readers.

I'm guessing with a debut date for Discovery, that a release date for Desperate Hours won't be far behind? I wonder if they'll throw it out during the mid-season break.

I was wondering the same thing after I saw the release date for the show.

I've been wondering when the Discovery Desperate Hours novel by David Mack will be released. Another thing I've been curious about since Kirsten Beyer is busy working on Discovery I wonder what will be happening to the Voyager books series after Architects of Infinity comes out later this year if the book series will go on hiatus or what"s going happen with future Voyager books will be affected by the new Star trek tv series.

I thought a tenth Voyager book was in the works? Unless Nine has been reworked to act as a finale?

Yeah, I'm more than happy to wait longer for the books if it mean's she's working on TV Trek. We're lucky she's continuing the books at all, she could have easily decided to just focus on her writing for the show and stopped the books as soon as she was done with the next one.

I'm glad Kirsten is a writer for Discovery. Even if it takes longer for her Voyager books to be written and takes awhile to be published. I'd glad to hear the Voyagers story arcs maybe continued someday in the future:bolian::hugegrin:.
