Yeah if he is updated and a real smuggler type, then I may enjoy the new Mudd......if he's campy, I'll pass but from the trailer I'm optimistic.I expect a rebooted Harry Mudd. If not, I expect CBS All Access will have at least one less subscriber.
Depends on how they reboot his character. This could be anything from wonderful to horrific. But if he's so important to the show he's in that many episodes, I can't possibly see how they DIDN'T reboot him. What on earth does Discovery need a Harry Mudd in 9 episodes for is the real question.

My guess is, when they don't have specific cast lists for each episode, they just list all the known series cast for every episode. I'm pretty sure I've seen that done with other shows' IMDb entries.
We can but hope. I always thought Mudd was a dreadfully unfunny, lame and dated character. If Rhainn Wilson doesnt work some serious magic, I can easily see me skipping episodes the revolve around him.I expect a rebooted Harry Mudd. This way they can have ferengi-like episodes without coming up with convoluted explanations for why they were unknown in TNG.

Really? He's basically Han Solo or Star Lord without the sex appeal. I don't see how that sort of archetypal rogue character "dates".
You can also see the origin of Q in Mudd as far as how he becomes this recurring thorn in the side of a captain. He's not really evil, just sort of a juvenile delinquent.
Perhaps he has a side plot that ends up tying back into the main story, and is only in like, say, the last 5-10 minutes of most of those episodes?
"Mudd's Women" and its appalling sexism is reason enough to want to ditch and forget the character. Then you also have that voice, moustache and hat to contend with too. Ur, no thanks!
What makes you think they would write the character the same way they did 50 years ago?
I find the character - and Carmel himself in those days - entertaining as all fuck. I'm curious to see what Wilson is going to be going with him. When, other than Karl Urban, have we seen an actor in Trek try to impersonate the actor they've replaced in a reboot? So I doubt that Wilson will do that.
Well, if they write the character in a substantially different way then it could be argued it would no longer be Mudd. In which case I may well watch.

If you look at Mudd's character in TOS, and what was done with him, of what use is that character in as many episodes as he is going to be in? I refuse to believe that the ORIGINAL Harry Mudd in all his glory will be what we see again, but instead a different character.
