I think the bridge in "The Cage" should be changed to fit the aesthetic of Discovery, if we ever see it. What we see in Discovery is what Star Trek looks like now.
I know that's a funny thing to hear from someone who used to moderate the TOS Forum for a few years, but it's what I think.
They don't look like contemporaries to me. Before, I could say, well TOS looked this way and ENT looks that way or TNG looks this way because they didn't take place in the same time. But now, in this case, not so much. When they take place at the same time, it doesn't visually mesh to me.
Not even just speaking as a fan. In general. If I'm Tim Buck Two off the street, and you sit me down to watch Discovery and you show me the bridge from "The Cage", mixed in with it, I'd look at the bridge from "The Cage", and be like "What the Hell is this?"
I'm not saying someone else can't think something else, but -- to me -- I'm not going to say my opinion is something it isn't.
Agreed. i, too would like to see what the Enterprise would look like from these same designers and artists. Not a radical change, but one that reflects modern design sensibilities. More details and more muted colors. Don't see why designs can't evolve over time as other franchises do, at least visually. And yes, I watched first-run TOS in 1966.
