Spoilers Once Upon a Time season 6

Loved It!

And... I miss it already.

Trying to run down all the stories over the years.

Is Mulan the only one who didn't get a "happy ending"?

Warning: Non-OUaT-related spoilers (tagged) ahead.

I'm not sure if it was intentional, but Adam and Eddy pulled a page from the playbook of Stephen King with tonight's finale,
echoing the ending of his magnum opus The Dark Tower by ending one story and then sending us and the characters we've come to know and love right back to the beginning
, which, as per an interview they gave to TVLine, was always intended to be the final scene of the SERIES, but which they just moved up and used it to launch a new chapter of their modern-day fairy-tale.

Although I'd made the decision to take a break from the show after Season 5, I'm glad I came back for these last 3 episodes because knowing what things are heading towards is going to make my "first experience" watching the majority of Season 6 - via the DVDs - even more interesting.

I know there are people out there who won't be following Adam and Eddy as they begin the "next chapter" of the show, but I do think credit has to be given for the fact that they themselves recognized this and, like Stephen King,
created an organic "stoppage point" for anyone who might not want to continue on with the journey.

Out of curiosity, I think I will check out Season 7.

Meanwhile . . . "I am the light." Really? Horowitz and Kitsis actually had those words come out of Emma's mouth?

Basically, and I don't think this is a bad thing, the show is now Aftermash.

We have a few main cast members returning--four characters to be exact, and the show is going in a new direction. I think minus the tag, we had a great series finale.

I will continue watching the show. I also hope that we do see the cast continue.

What will be the new direction? We know that Jennifer Morrison will be on at least one episode next year. Will it be the opener? Will it be sweeps? Will it be a flashback?

Or will the show be the "search for Emma?"

So many questions.

Were the happy endings ruined? Clearly, at some point, Henry is in the Enchanted Forest and has a kid.

Will the characters we know be in a situation where they didn't age? Or will we be seeing them in older makeup?

I hope their plan for the series works.

You act surprised by that... In the 6 years of the show you haven't noticed the writing is garbage?

Yeah. But I wasn't surprised . . just annoyed that Horowitz and Kitsis had continued that "light", "darkness" morality garbage. But it's not the only sci-fi/fantasy that does it. Unfortunately.

1. Clearly yes as half the cast is gone, Belle is gone, Emma is gone, there goes those happy couples. And this has me most upset with the show continuing. This should have been the end of it, that was a perfect ending.
2. They won't age, if they are in a fairy tale land they don't age quickly anyways. But makeup would be too expensive.
3. You think they have a plan?

It's one of those things where I wish they just ended the show at the dinner and then five years from now they can bring it back with the ending they had. Bringing back dead shows right after they end is the new thing.

I have ambivalent feelings about this series now. I'm sad that Jennifer Morrison and most of the lead characters will be leaving the show; on the other hand, I'm still glad it's coming back for another season. Last night's two-parter season finale certainly felt like a series finale, and it would have worked had the show ended there and then. When you have one or two actors depart from a show, like CSI, Criminal Minds, etc. oftentimes the integrity of the series is maintained although some of the characters you've come to know and like have long gone. But this is a major shakeup in casting. It would be like watching a continuation of TNG without Picard, Worf, and Data; it's just not the same.

The little girl who played Henry's future daughter looked familiar to me. I believe she appeared in a TV commercial for Harry Potter World - Universal Studios, as a wand-weaving Hogwarts student.

I assume they're calling it a new season (rather than a spin-off) so that they can latch onto the supposedly very lucrative Netflix deal.

I have to be honest. I'm not much of a fan of the Charmings. They have been annoying me since Season Two. And I've never liked Emma Swan that much as a character. I never thought she was fully developed. Horowitz and Kitsis kept giving her character too much leeway for the crap she did.

The only characters that I really found interesting are the ones who will be returning for Season 7 - Regina, Gold and Hook. I wonder how the show runners will treat them in this new season.

Once Upon a Time is moving to Fridays. 22 episodes as usual.

They released a synopsis as well:

After six seasons, the residents of the enchanted forest face their greatest challenge yet as The Evil Queen, Captain Hook and Rumplestiltskin join forces with a grown up Henry Mills and his daughter Lucy on an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, new fairy tale characters and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.

For me, it feels weirder having OUaT on a weekday than it does knowing that Emma, Snow, Charming, Belle, and Zelena aren't going to be around full-time.

Interesting it's for 22 episodes.

Why is this "interesting"? There's absolutely no reason why ABC wouldn't give the series another full season pick-up straight off the bat, as it's a proven commodity that generates a tremendous amount of buzz for them.
