Agents of Shield - Season 4

What I don't get is that some people seem content to see Aida as just a mindless drone with no consciousness or will, just blindly acting out the impersonal evil of the Darkhold.
Well, I certainly never said that. In fact, I believed right from the start that even pre-Darkhold AIDA had feelings for Fitz.

She's even more dangerous now with human emotions.

I wonder if that will be her down fall, they'll use her emotions against her

Whoa, whoa, whoa. The Russian said his android body was "Designed Only for Killing" -- and his severed head is still alive somewhere controlling the androids -- in other words, he's now a Mental Organism? Holy crap, he's MODOK!

I hadn't expected Ophelia to turn out this way. I'd assumed her actions in the Framework were more her own choice. I'm still not sure I buy her excuse that she was just following Radcliffe's programming; it's too convenient that she just happened to end up in charge of a dictatorship that gave her the ability to direct all the Framework world's resources toward her goal of gaining freedom. Still, human Ophelia is a distinct person, thinking and feeling differently, so the case could be made that she wasn't responsible for her predecessor's actions.

Although she's committed plenty of her own. Hell hath no fury like a newly bioprinted, multiply-superpowered, emotionally infantile woman scorned.

Yeah it's definitely convenient that in a world she's suppose to monitor that she also happens to be the leader of an evil organization with unlimited resources that she can use to get what she wants outside of the framework.

And yeah... You could argue that she might not be responsible for her terrible actions in the framework under Radcliffe's control. I'm behind that. So instead she's just responsible for all the new terrible actions under her own control.

I caught that as well and actually hoped that that was the direction that they going to take as soon as AIDA removed his head.

I went all in on the theory, down to calling him MODOK Superior on forums for weeks. I do wonder why they went to 'The Russian" and not "The Superior"? Perhaps his official naming comes in the finale. I guess I need a re-watch of the LMD arc I do remember Agent Coulson laughing at him saying he was just a Redshirt on a routine mission that he hardly remembers.

One thought I have about Fitz.

If Fitz lived in the real world, odds are overwhelming that he would have been a nerd growing up. He's kind of like that on the show. He was a genius and in the real world, would be ridiculously awkward around women. So the idea that he has so many hot women after him, while fictional, is pretty damn cool.

"Well, you missed a fair amount, May, but the quick version is you can go ahead and shoot him."

It's good to have proper May back after more than half the season. Looks like the show will continue to develop her relationship with Coulson, and while I was against it before, I'm actually looking forward to where they go with it. May will wonder why Coulson finally opened up the bottle and so I think she'll quickly learn the full truth of what happened while she was gone.

I was genuinely worried Leo would retain his feelings for Ophelia, so I was greatly relieved when he told her that his heart only belongs to Jemma. Leo is confused and in a lot of pain, but at least he has Jemma at his side and it looks like he'll let her back in. Another a bump in the road for the relationship, but I can see it working. Of course, now we have a very angry, very powerful woman who doesn't know how to control her emotions and how to be human loose in the world, wanting nothing but pain for everyone.

Not surprised at all Yo-Yo went back into the Framework but I wonder what she can possibly say or do to convince Mack of the truth and decide to return to the real world. After escaping from her bounds, of course, which I expect is where Ward comes in. Perhaps Ward will help Mack see the truth?

Speaking of Ward, I liked the analogy Leo suggested that he's just like Ward (or rather his experience in the Framework was just like Ward of the real world), in that he was manipulated at a young age by a horrible man to do horrible things. Leo had that experience in the Framework while Ward had it in the real world and their opposites were genuinely good people. I can't believe I'm saying this but I hope they find someway to bring good Ward into the real world, even if the 3D printer was destroyed.

I'm not entirely thrilled by the prospect of having Talbot as an enemy yet again, even if his paranoia is justifiable. I hope Coulson is able to find some way for Talbot to see the truth. Where does Talbot think the real Coulson, May, Simmons, Fitz, Mack, etc. are? Does he think they're all dead?

Glad Agent Piper was the last agent standing of the small group of surviving agents, but I am sorry the rest are dead.

Short of Robbie dragging Ophelia and The Russian (or MODOK as postulated by others, whoever he/it may be) into another dimension with his hellfire chain, I can't see how the next episode doesn't end with a cliffhanger. Too many moving parts are need to be resolved that can't possibly be handled with one last episode.

More to the point, how can they get out? The only way the others were able to access the "escape hatch" was with Quake's help to push away the molten metal. Without Daisy going in to help them, Elena and Mack have no way out.

Dr Radcliffe has the theory and Mac the mechanical engineering skills. Instead of Daisy replicating a machine you build a machine to replicate Quake's ability

Yeah, the outstanding question in my mind going in was, what will Ophelia do if and when she's rejected by Fitz. Now we know!

In that moment she was like, "Wait, what?" I was like, "Oops!"
