Spoilers The Flash - Season 3

If the writers were creative enough in developing the potential of her powers, she could be a truly formidable foe.

And if the budget allows it ;)
Though they have already done amazing things on a TV budget on these shows, the icy slip n slide sequence was pretty great.

I hope Caitlyn goes back to normal. there is no real reason to leave her as a villain, and while she's a decent villain I like the character more as part of the supporting cast. Her turning evil every so often works as a story element, but I don't want it to be the new status quo.

I dunno, the whole "she might turn evil any minute" thing has been done, to go back to that would be a regression. If they're ever gonna explore evil Killer Frost, I'd rather they do a longer arc now where she's evil for a while and they end up redeeming her at the end of it.

Honestly, I think its about run its course. They should just cure her and be done with it, and either let her keep her powers as a hero (the current JLA comic is using Killer Frost as a hero very well, although the character is different from the one on The Flash, obviously) or remove them completely. I don't think her being evil really works outside of a subplot for a few episodes, I definitely don't want to have her stay a villain for a long period of time.

If the writers do turn her back to regular Caitlyn, she should at least remember her time as KF and have learned something from it. There should be some character development to come out of the whole thing.

Actually, that part shouldn't make sense. Haven't they already altered the timeline by bringing back Tracy's future research and letting her in on it 4 years early? And by Barry figuring out Savitar's identity when his 2024 self never had (well, unless he was lying)?

.

Good point, but if the writers are the same ones who pen the stories for Legends of Tomorrow, then we can't expect any temporal logic from any of this. Perhaps Savitar was protected by some kind of "temporal wake" that followed the altered timeline, a la First Contact. :)

This is what happens when you give pretty people superpowers. One bad scar, and you've got a supervillain.

At least, that's what tv and movies seem determined to teach me. If only Savitar knew a good plastic surgeon... :p

They aren't the same writers. Each show has its own separate showrunner and staff, with only the company's overall executive producers in common. Plotting and writing even one modern, serialized show is a full-time job; there's no way the same writers' room could handle 2-4 different shows.

I really enjoyed the Savitar reveal, and I was worried I wouldn't. Yes it was obvious, but how we got there was pretty good, even though how we got there amounted to like 8 minutes in an episode. Loved the Killer Frost sliding scene, and I hope they don't bring back Caitlin, or bring her back with Killer Frost tendencies. She's much more interesting as KF and was being wasted at Star Labs.

Also, I thought the best storyline in this episode was HR and his relationship with Tracy. HR started out really annoying, but he's slowly turning into my favorite character on the show.

HR and Tracy, television GOLD right there... perfect chemistry and believable acting. As for the big reveal, which was a whole lotta nothing leading up to it by the way, meh. First off, yes it was obvious.. or at least all of the signs were clear and present from the very beginning. The thing is, Grant Gustin and friends told us, in no uncertain terms or parsing of words, that we would not see the true identity coming; that we would be utterly shocked by it. So that meant that it couldn't possibly be future Barry as that is the "duh" answer.

So what do they do... they reveal that it's future Barry. A cop out, sorry waste of a big bad reveal if ever there was one. Totally unimaginative and lazy. Now, they had better come up with the most insanely awesome explanation for Savitar's motives or I'm going to be one super pissed off fan.

I've learned to take what the writers/actors say with a grain of salt. They're trying to sell the show, get more people watching and have higher ratings. If they said the reveal of Savitar was going to be predictable and not shocking, that's terrible PR.

The thing I loved about HR and Tracy was it wasn't angsty, it wasn't about a loving relationship, but it was about two people who find themselves in the same predicament. Tracy is being shunned for her theories and being called a Fraud. HR was going through the same kind of thing earlier in the season so the two spending a lot of time together was real and felt really genuine. I hope it doesn't turn into a love relationship though, but with what we got, it was great.

I thought Savitar was going to be Eddie Thawne, if I must be honest. So I was surprised. And I enjoyed every moment of it.

What I find interesting is the level of fan rage behind the reveal. Why? No one wants to see the main hero be the villain as well? Expressing this amount of anger over the fact that many had predicted who Savitar was going to be seems rather ludicrous to me.

Great casting of Anne Dudek as Tracy Brand. I know her from playing the Drapers' neighbor Francine on Mad Men. I would not be surprised if she becomes a regular member of the cast next season.

This is the problem with trying to sustain a mystery over a whole TV season. Give millions of viewers months to consider the clues, and some of them are bound to solve it. So no matter what the solution is, it's probably going to be one that's already been proposed online well in advance.

I would be very happy with a previously introduced villian to be the big bad next season. Whether Killer Frost, Abracadabra, Grodd, or group of the Rogues. Mostly because it would finally break out of this over used pattern of each season having a mystery villian. They have promised no Speedester for next year, that is only part of the problem. Having no season long mystery would solve the rest of the problem.

The more I think about this, I can't help but feel that this really shouldn't have been a mystery for this long.

Since they're going with evil Barry, why not use him?
Reveal him early, use the time to explore how he got to be that way, what makes him tick, make the audience care about him and what he went through, would have made for a far more compelling villain... instead we got Savitar who has just been generically evil and a "guess who?" mystery.

Just seems like a wasted opportunity.

We have gotten 3 seasons to care about Barry. Everything we have seen leads him to become Savitar. Plus future events to come. We know more about Savitar than any other villian in the Arrowverse. I think a earlier reveal might have been beneficial but not to no more about Savitar.

^My guess is divergent timelines. Savitar may come fro, one of those timelines where Barry never got married. It'd explain why Flashpoint made him possible. In the Pre-Flashpoint timeline where Iris West-Allen wrote that 2024 article, Barry wasn't destined to become Savitar.

The Flashpoint Paradox has to come in to play somehow. Savitar is a remnant of Flashpoint somehow which also explains why he was trying to bring Flashpoint powers into the main universe. It would be neat if this entire season were somehow a version of the Flashpoint universe--although I hope that doesn't actually erase everything that has happened.

I wonder if Thawne is going to make an appearence before the season's end. He did "send" Barry back to his normal time, with some changes, but what if he didn't really. Of course that sets up the whole reset button thing and I'm not sure if I want that.
