Indiana Jones 5. It's official.

He wouldn't be the only guy to fight in both wars. Lots of young kids went off to war a century ago. In many parts of the world, that is sadly still the case.

I really want this:

^ Indeed. From what I gather the script would have been much better and Harrison Ford was still in his prime age-wise.

Other Indiana Jones movies that also might have happened were…

I read the script. It wasn't bad. Could have used a polish though, it also felt short for an Indiana Jones film, but then again I guess the action sequences might have added to the run time.

People who hated the appearance of the aliens in Crystal Skull would have hated it more, since Indy actually ended up on a flying saucer at one point, and if I remember correctly, even piloted it.

IJ and the Lost Continent is the only one of those "could/woulda/shoulda" projects I feel a potential loss for not getting.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, if they had just stuck to the original City of the Gods script for Crystal Skull, with a couple minor tweaks, we could be talking about how it was one of the best of the series.

So sad that some of those didn't get made. There's no reason why we couldn't have eight Indy movies by now instead of just four.

Spielberg and Lucas were supposed to have come up with Indy as their own James Bond. If they'd pumped out Indy adventures at the rate Eon made 007 films in the 1980s, we could certainly have at least 5 - in 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987 and 1989.

Of course, Spielberg and Ford's schedules were a little harder to clear than were those of the directors and stars of the 1980s Bond films.

Actually, I'm kind of glad it didn't happen. The fact that we don't have a whole bunch of them makes us appreciate them much more. I like that it's not just another big movie franchise to pump out.

Didn't they announce that Lucas won't be involved? Do we know for sure Spielberg will?

Well, not officially, just that the scriptwriter reported that he hasn't seen any involvement from Lucas (that news is what revived this thread).
