Star Wars Rebels Season Three (spoilers)

There's a YA novel about Jyn about to come out

When I first read that sentence, I parsed it as "a YA novel about Jyn about to reveal she's a lesbian." That would be a pretty interesting YA novel... (Although there was a female character in Ahsoka who was fairly clearly in love with Ahsoka even if they stopped just short of saying it outright.)

The high detailed Ghost model used in Rogue One

Compare to the model actually used in the show

Interesting - they definitely gave it the Millennium Falcon treatment, adding a metric ass-ton of greebles around the edge. Looks very cool - a shame that it's only a solid mesh and doesn't show surface maps. I wonder if they'll use that newer model as a Rebel Fleet Upgrade/Refit of the Ghost for next season. It almost looks like they took the original animated mesh and just spruced it up a bit. The proportions and detailing (aside from the new stuff around the edge) seem damn near identical.

Thats exactly what they did IIRC, the Rebels team gave them the base model.

I doubt they'll use ILM's model, it is too detailed for the art style they use in the show, they'd have to beef everything up to match as well.

A lot more machinery and details, which makes sense given that the model was likely rendered in higher resolution, and required more assets for being on the "big screen."

Dammit. They have the Filoni / Hidalgo panel up on YouTube. But they don't show any of the art that they are talking about. Around 25 minutes in the audience freaks about something but we can't see what it is.

I hate when they do that. I think it was at SDCC where they would show the panels live and when they got to trailers or clips they would cut the feed.

Some of the images were uploaded to the Star Wars Twitter account (that is where I got that ILM Ghost image). I think it was a mistake on the part of the tech guys.

Check around twitter, people have been posting the other images.

Yeah, I was watching the livestream and it was really disappointing not being able to see what they were discussing. Must be an oversight on the production side as I remember last year they showed every single slide.

^That is Filloni's stated goal. Whether he'll actually follow through on that or is just teasing is yet to be seen.

Heck, I'm a bigger fan of Filoni's Star Wars than I ever was of Lucas's. He's done a great job fleshing out the universe with rich and interesting characters.

You do realise that Lucas was the primary creative force driving TCW, right? The Nightsister arc, Mortis, the Mandalorians, the return of Maul, basically all the best stories all originated from him. Not to diminish Filloni's great talent and leading role, but he was most assuredly following George's lead and has made no bones about it.

It's always seemed to me that Lucas's ideas have turned out best when executed by other people. He's a lot like Gene Roddenberry -- when he's the one executing it himself, it can be pretty dire, but when he assembles talented people to collaborate with him on bringing his ideas to fruition, that's when they turn out good.
