bunch of losers. every one wants to have the whole crew openly queer and having weekly orgies. Its the whole point of liberalism, to destroy everything.

The thing is, the folks who get bashed in this thread for being against "star trek queer" are bashed by the same people who INSIST that the nuTrek Sulu is gay because he hugged the guy that is simply called "brother or family" in Beyond.

Hear the cries of the oppressed, my fellow posters.

I guess I missed something, but is the crew of the Discovery going to be gay?
Yes. All of them.

They will also be all naked, all the time!

Aside from the sombreros.

I think exploring what sexuality could be in the 23rd can be an interesting subject if done properly. Certainly by then it would be optional, humans would choose and change their sexuality at will, if they wanted to.

On the other hand the main flaw of Star Trek is that humans don't change through artificial manipulation. So it's unlikely that they will explore the subject with any degree of realism. But I'll keep an open mind.

Infraction for trolling. The reasons should be obvious. Comments to PM.

well I for one am more curious than anything and I don't really care as to whether or not its a prequel series. TBH Enterprise was the prequel series from what i could see so its deffinately not a prequel series.
I'm prepared to give it a chance and I really hope that it does well enough.
I think its' really sad to see people making quite negative judgements but we've been here before.
Before TNG premiered in 1987, don't forget that people then were also saying and predicting that that would fail and, thank goodness for the rest of us, it eventually turned out to be one of the best series of the Star Trek franchise.
I won't be making any judgements until we see the pilot episode and then we'll see what the rection is.

I made the mistake of reading the Facebook comments for the official announcement of Isaacs' casting.

Every one of the first dozen or so was negative - probably more beyond that, but I had to stop reading. Not about him, but about everything else - the distribution method, the casting of a female as a cadet (!), the focus on one character when every other series focused on characters equally (!!)...

I have never seen a more whiny, negative fanbase.

This is why I've limited my Facebook time across the board and never read the comments.

Never read the comments is a good rule to have just about everywhere.

<snip>...The only thing I hate is the constant negativity of portions of the fanbase, but that's been going for the 20-odd years I've followed Trek, so I have learned to put up with it to a degree.

I used to post here frequently, but I quit when I couldn't stand the sour fanbase. It began with VOY and became awful during ENT. The level of venom directed to Berman & Braga was overwhelming. Yes they stayed on well past their creative prime, but nobody seemed to give them credit for the tremendous success they had achieved with Trek earlier in their tenure. I was glad to see them go but certainly didn't want to kick their a$$es out the door.

I'm thinking about coming back here but won't if there is too much negativity. Life is too short. However I want to look at things in some perspective. There was a lot of negativity surrounding TNG aka "The Ripoff" at the time of it's debut, but it was highly successful and brought legions of fans to Trek. So we will see how things go.

I don't see all that much negativity here tbh. In fact most people are "shockingly" reasonable even when it comes to changes of look and (omg!) "canon". ;)
