Heh. The tweet is deleted now... but still. It was from the official account. Interestingly: that link they tweeted was dead when the tweet was live.

EDIT: That link is live now http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-rebels-to-return-for-fourth-season-this-fall

STAR WARS REBELS TO RETURN FOR FOURTH SEASON THIS FALL
THE HIT ANIMATED SERIES' FOURTH SEASON WILL PREMIERE LATER THIS YEAR ON DISNEY XD.

Despite the best efforts of the Grand Inquisitor, Darth Vader, and Grand Admiral Thrawn, the Ghost crew will be back.

Star Wars Rebels is set to return for a fourth season, Lucasfilm announced today, premiering later this year on Disney XD. Production is already underway. Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, programming and general manager, Disney XD said, “The team behind Star Wars Rebels delivers epic storytelling that has captivated fans of all ages across the globe. We’re excited to continue sharing the journey of these fan-favorite rebels with our audience in the fall.”

Star Wars Rebels, set between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope, features a cast of new heroes and has included Star Wars icons like Darth Vader, Yoda, and Princess Leia, along with fan favorites such as Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. The show is currently in the midst of a thrilling third season, which has seen the introduction of the threatening villain Grand Admiral Thrawn, a direct connection to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with an appearance by Saw Gerrera, and the legendary Maul on a journey for his ultimate revenge. The gifted cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Sam Witwer as Maul, Tom Baker as Bendu, and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Fans can look forward to more details and an announcement about the exciting fourth season of Star Wars Rebels during Star Wars Celebration in Orlando this April!

So while the Empire probably isn’t too thrilled, we can’t wait for Season Four.

EDIT #2 The tweet is real again!

After Sabine left people were thinking "This might be it"

Also the Obi-Wan VS Maul fight seemed like it was heading towards "A New Hope"

or "Rogue One"

Good news, indeed. I have to imagine that setting the premiere five years before A New Hope was deliberate, meaning that they had a five-year plan in place for the show.

Leaving the crew isn't the same thing as leaving the show. It's more an indication that the scope is continuing to broaden, as it has done incrementally since season 1.

Those are both still a good 18 months to 2 years out.

The Rebel Alliance needs to form first. Maybe some headway. Get their tails kick a could of times to keep them on the run. Eventually settle for Yavin base, and then they can gear up for Rogue One.

(The Timeline is sinking up perfectly by the way).

That was a decent episode today, and yes that was Genevieve voicing Mon Mothma.

I felt the fleet arriving like that at the end felt a little fast though. Nice to see an MC-80 though.

Is anyone stoked for this?

I've always believed that Obi Wan would end up killing Maul again in either The Clone Wars or Star Wars Rebels because for the casual viewer (who won't touch the Star Wars animated series') they will still think Obi Wan killed Maul in The Phantom Menace. If Obi Wan does kill Maul "again" then the trivia question of "Who defeated Darth Maul" will once again be correct as Obi Wan. .

Bingo.

Here is what I think is going to happen--or should happen.

He slices Maul in half...vertically, though--this time.

So when all the old books say that Kenobi killed Maul by cutting him in half...it's still valid. After a fashion.

You mean from a certain point of view.

That episode was gorgeous both visually and musically. And I love the way Y-Wings dock to the Ghost.

Solid episode with lots of neat touches for the trivia hounds, though most of the big ones were sort of given away in the mid-season trailer. Nice to finally see Dantooine though, if only from orbit.

For a second there I thought 'Gold Two' might be Evaan Verlaine, but the helmet design doesn't seem to match (not conclusive, I know) and you'd think if they were going to introduce her they've be more overt about it given Gold Leader also showing up. On the other hand, she was the only other pilot to survive so...maybe.

The Ghorman Massacre Mon Mothma mentions goes waaaaay back in the old EU. Technically, so far back as to be before there was an EU in the way we think of it, to the old WEG RPG sourcebooks of the late 80s/early 90's. IIRC, the gist of it was some peaceful protesters occupied an Imperial landing pad preventing Tarkin's ship from touching down, so with Palpatine's "OK", he went ahead and landed right on them anyway. Squish.

Oh and anyone else notice that the wreck they were hiding out in was the remains of an old Seperatist Frigate? I thought that was a neat touch.

ETA: Forgot to mention this before: though I'm sure it was just done for the sake of brevity and narrative convenience, did anyone else think it a bit odd that the Imperial state propaganda channel replayed Mon Mothma's "treasonous lies" in full? I mean why risk spreading her message even further than the Senate floor when they can simply denounce her on some trumped up charge? (Oh dear, just realised that phrase has taken on a whole new dimension these days!)

On a related note, for those wondering just how coordinated LF are with their ancillery materials these days, here's a snippet from the Rogue One Ultimate Guide that came out a few months ago: -

Yes! Did anyone else get a Wrath of Khan vibe in the nebula with some of the shots they used? Loved the episode!
A few of the shots were definitely direct references to TWoK. The top down view into the maelstrom below certainly jumped out at me.

This show manages some really awe inspiring visuals for a kid's show.

Last seasons episode where the Ghost went into a nebula had a haunting piece of music

It was like something out of Ron Moore's BattleStar Galactica.

It crossed the boundaries into an adult Scifi Show IMO

Who's writing this junk? The Grand Inquisitor is gone, Vader has lead no efforts -- they've just had encounters with him, and Thrawn hasn't employed his best efforts yet -- he's been waiting for them to reveal themselves.

More of a formality than anything. A fourth season was never really in doubt and honestly, I'd be surprised if it doesn't make it to a fifth as well.

As pointed out by other people, dialogue for the fourth season (presumably most) was already in the can -- it was highly unlikely there wasn't going to be a fourth season. It doesn't yet like they're gonna pull a WB and cancel a high-rated show just because they want to change thigns up (what was said about "Angel").

Can somebody tell me how exactly that ending worked? How did all these rebel ships know where to go? If they all had the secret location of Dantooine, how in the world did they mamage to keep it a secret? And how come they all knew but the Ghost crew didn't? Mon had to show they how to get there in this eisode.

Eh. But if they get Craig Huxley to bring in his blaster beam, then I'll be impressed.
