Yup. They do have their own client software but it's purely for download management and 100% optional. What's more I think the GOG version of SR2 actually runs properly on modern systems. The Steam version needs some finagling IIRC. It can be a little finicky. Give it a while and try again. When this feature first came online last year I had one game that it stubbornly refused to recognise. In the end I think I took the brute force approach and opened about two dozen tabs on the same link. and hit refresh. Don't ask me why that worked, but it did.
